Skelly ships spawn rate

  • @burnbacon Gotcha. I've seen those ships do some extremely weird maneuvers that shouldn't be possible even with a Captain on the helm, so I always assumed they were on some artificial pathing of some kind, and not actually sailing like you or me have to do.

@kianonboard Cause he is part of this sinking ship thats Rare

He is a community member, he is not an employee.

  • Avoid the golden route marked on the map, it will have more skelly ships there than anywhere else.

  • I haven't noticed a change in spawn rates other than a few more lurking on the Smugglers route which seem to have a wider aggro area. One thing to note is pve like meg and skelly ship will essentially queue up. So if you are parked stationary for a long period ie taking awhile to do a quest, then once you set off they will both spawn on you. So be prepared, others have already shared tactics. Once you get comfortable they are not much challenge. I rarely need much more than one handful of cannons (plus a couple firebombs to keep skellies on deck dead) to sink a sloop so whoever is taking that many cannons is doing something wrong, maybe aiming mid deck against gally etc.

    Good luck

    Exactly this.

    1. It can only be a galley, no way it's a skelly sloop
    2. When I started playing the game and I was terrible at aiming, yes, I remember once spending around 90+ cannons to sink a skeleton galley.

Why? Cuz I wasn't spreading, wasn't using firebombs at all to disable them, and wasn't almost ever hitting lowest deck. Dragged that fight for almost an hour lol. Terrible 😂

But yea, if they run across some ballast balls, these are also great for sinking galleys fast, after good spreading, in case they don't want to opt for boarding and detonating new kegs.

Hi. Is it possible to have a look at the skelly ships spawn rate and strength?
It is becoming nearly impossible for solo players like myself to even complete any quests or even just get from island to island without being attacked by them. They spawn at ridiculous rates and it makes the game unplayable for some.

I think it's ridiculous that you can spawn in as a solo sloop and almost immediately get attacked by a skeleton galleon. It's basically an instant sink in this kind of scenario. Skeleton galleons are very tough to sink as a solo sloop.

    Now are we talking about.

    1. roaming galleon?
    2. galleon spawning from the depths?
    3. doing smugglers route?
    4. crossing fleet world event

Because most of these are avoidable. Sloops don’t have galleons spawn on them “immediately” they either part of an event or voyage. And they don’t attack unless you get to close.

Since this season, Skalleons spawn on Sloops.

As they have the new kegs on board, they're rather easy to sink though (just as long as they won't explode close to your ship while you have a keg rowboat ... ).

  • @lem0n-curry

Then I must be that lucky pirate.
Not a single galleon has spawn on me. I’ve seen those galleons spawn on the route when I do smugglers voyage or off the distance, and sunk them. But never had one spawn while sailing next to me.

If that is all, pretty sure they be reduced. Much like the rumors of reducing explosion and damage by black kegs to ships. :(
Complaints are the black spot in this game.

  • @burnbacon I also haven't had a single galleon spawn on me. Only roaming galleons that get aggro'd on me while i was on an island.

But i can confirm that you can be attacked by a roaming skeleton galleon while loading in to a server. I had it happen to me last week. I did manage to save my ship and sink the galleon, but directly after i patched up my ship an enemy ship came by and started attacking me. Well, with little supplies left, that was an unwinnable situation for me, so i just left the server.

So i do think that the new way roaming skeleton ships are getting aggresive is a problem.
