Separate the 2 modes

  • I love the game, However I hate the PVP aspect of it. The player base is overly toxic and it makes for no fun after spending hours of sailing, looting and really having a good time when some guy halfway across the world spends 13 hours a day camping an outpost just to kill you with some of the shottiest pvp mechanics to date or yet another glitch that is being abused.

I personally believe PVP and PVE should be 2 separate things, PVP should remain it's own area where as PVE Should not be limited to what they can and cannot do. Cosmetics should carry over but all coin/commendations and Currency's (aside from ancient coins obviously as they are a IRL currency) should be separate. So PVE players can enjoy the full game their way and PVP can do the same their own way. The AI can be difficult enough at times making those who are more "laxed" gamers struggle already.

Many players enjoy the game and hate the pvp aspect of it. so allowing those players to enjoy the game without fear of them loosing interest after being sunk by some toxic 13 year old's or even worse full grown adults who can't control themselves properly and be a decent human being verbally would be a HUGE step towards finding a balance for all players to enjoy this masterpiece. Alternatively maybe moderate the servers a bit better to reduce the toxic behavior that has consumed the seas. Granted the pirate era was a brutal one and that should be considered yes however just listen to some of the interactions easily found on youtube and you will see exactly what i mean. There are even content creators out there who thrive on this toxicity and make it their sole highlight of their channel. I strongly believe that separating the two modes and allowing PVE to have full access as emissary's etc. would increase player rates significantly. Some commendations will need converted for a PVE aspect mainly those focused around reapers guild (or even replace that guild with a PVE special guild focused on sinking AI ships etc.)

*side note, Why is this site so blinding and hard to actually use, I can't see what I'm typing until i highlight it or have the preview window open maybe a color adjustment for the feedback site as well :)

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
