A lot of players (including me) have been waiting for an gameupdate which overhauls the sensitivities for the mouse.
The current sensitivity settings for the mouse aren't good at all, especially for players that come from other FPS games. You can almost never match the sensitivity you are used to, surely you can get it close but its NEVER accurate to a point where it feels familiar enough. Wether you're playing arround with your DPI or Polling Rate, the values are messed up.
This also applies to the ADS and Scoping sensitivity with the Eye of Reach, heck even the Spyglass when you have to swipe across the whole mousepad 2-4 times to get somewhat of a rotation. There is simply not enough. Players who prefer to play with a faster or even 1 to 1 Scoping sensitivity, like me and many others, have been having a hard time. For years players have even bound their targeting key to modify the DPI to a higher value while you're holding it.
This has been a problem for years amongst keyboard and mouse players.
It's also not like it's something only the scary TDMers or hourglass players want, it's something that every type of player HAS to fight against. I talked to so many new players on the sea that came from other FPS titles, many asked me if there was a way and many agreed that it's an important missing feature.
Why an overhauled sensitivity system would only benefit for the game:
- experienced players will see themselves either coming back or putting more time into the game
- new players coming from other FPS titles will have a much better experience coming into the game once they understand the system
- experienced players will help the new players to getting their desired sensitivity and help them understand the system
- there would be a whole new community within Sea of Thieves
As to negative aspects to this change, there really wouldn't be any at all. The only downside I could think of, would be players, who are satisfied with their current sensitivity having a hard time to adapt to this change. BUT this could be avoided by giving us for example an "Legacy" option which uses the old sensitivity sliders and an "Advanced" option which should feature sliders and value boxes (so you can get a sensitivity you aready have, exactly to the milimeter) for all the sensitivities.
Now that you, Rare, is working hard to let us players increase the ingame FOV, it's time to address this underrated but big topic. You should really consider putting this important missing feature on your roadmap.
