Gunplay Suggestion for Custom Seas.

  • If Custom Seas is giving us dev tools, so there should be an option for legacy gunplay. Let us bring back Season 9 mechanics; one-blunders, directional knockback, and that buttery quick swap. That was peak gunplay in Sea of Thieves. Give players the choice, and they’ll be all over it.

  • In custom servers. Why does it matter how you kill someone?

  • @burnbacon I guess if you wanna set up a player vs player match and want to bring back the nostalgia of one blunders / qs lol

  • Wouldn't that mess with people's muscle memory when they switch from Custom to Adventure ?

  • @lem0n-curry Still, it's be pretty fun tbh

....and then they join the Live servers and get disappointed, leading to frustration where they make posts here asking for qs to come back and get their thread locked?

  • @europa4033 People still complain about arena years after right? Well, it's not happening, same with qs

  • @europa4033 Are people gonna be disappointed when they go into a live server and can't freecam and spawn chests of fortune? That's a silly argument. It's a custom server, the more options the better

  • @mr-m0nkers

Coal and factory jobs are not coming back. Get over it bro.

More options the better, indeed. However the game never had a feature for players on the live servers to instantly spawn chests of fortune, unlike quick swap. I can hear the arguments now, "Rare, we can already quick swap on custom servers, why not just simply bring it back to Live?" You give players an inch, they'll cry and want a mile. They initially said no FoV increase, until they decided to change it to 110. Now I've seen several posts asking for them to increase it to 120. Case in point. Only having quick swap on custom servers (which by the way, isn't a developer tool) is only going to lead people to come here asking for it's re-implementation.

Yes, exactly. People are always gonna complain if something cool doesn’t carry over to Adventure, but that’s not a good reason to limit what Custom Seas can do. Most people would just be stoked to have legacy gunplay back at all. Whether they keep playing Adventure or not isn’t the point. It’s about giving players more ways to enjoy the game. And Custom Seas is a paid subscription when it drops. If people are paying for access and control, there should be options like legacy quick-swap and directional knockback. That stuff already existed. No reason it shouldn’t be a toggle. This isn’t asking for changes to the live game. It’s just letting people who liked that style play the game how they remember it. The forums will complain no matter what. Who cares. Let people play how they want. That’s literally what Custom Seas is for. Its a payed subscription like come on.

Not necessarily, in the community direct Drew Stevens said they'd be revisiting certain weapon/combat changes made in the past.

Could be the one blunder, could be quickswap, could be just making stuff more fluid. Either way, can't completely rule it out, especially when so many people want it brought back and it costs nothing (unlike Arena).

  • @burnbacon Exactly, so let them use whatever style they want

  • That would be awesome even a tdm mode for custom seas would be good

  • I completely agree with this idea. I think that if players have the ability to play in a server with no pvp, then players should have the ability to do as they wish in a custom server. I think that the idea that players will beg for quick swap back is ridiculous. Even if it did happen, all they would simply have to do is say no. I feel like this might drive down the cheating epidemic. Custom servers have so much potential but old gun mechanics is a fantastic idea. Just add the ability to read a server description so you can see what is toggled and what is disabled. Very well said Monkers.

  • Pajama sam agrees.

  • @burnbacon Thats essencially the point of custom servers. To make events from the community, many being pvp based easier. It's not like everyone is going on custom seas to get cins or get cool screenshots because who would pay for that.
