Should the Devs Remove Easy Anti-Cheat?

  • So we all know why Easy Anti-Cheat is a questionable inclusion to SoT. It creates massive security risks for the end-user due to it being a kernel level piece of software. And sadly, according to many, it's had a minimal effect on the issue of cheating in SoT. Given this, how many players would prefer its removal from the game?

Furthermore, while we all understand SoT is intended to be a more social experience, how many players would like to at least see the option to enjoy a more robust single-player experience? With the inclusion of more PvE elements, I personally wouldn't mind at least having the option to experience most of the game's content in a solo mode that doesn't require Easy Anti-Cheat. Which is to say nothing for how such a design decision could improve the ability to preserve this title after official support has ended. A particularly important topic as of late.

The anticheat obviously isn’t perfect, but anything that makes it more difficult for cheaters is a win for me. I also don’t do anything on this machine that I’m worried about being compromised. No banking, no money on my Steam account, they can read my emails if they like.

  • @dekudal

Yeah let's let all the cheaters in even easier!

Great idea! (not me literally having a cheater like 5 hrs ago)

  • I wish the AC was better and not kernel level. It can also still be easily disabled so unless they fix the implementation of EAC they basically don't have it running.

  • @dekudal no cause then there would be free cheats

  • Probably any other anti-cheat would have had a smoother landing and less issues currently with false positives.

  • I rather have a Broken AC than not have one at all.
