Private servers

  • I would like to suggest the addition of very small in size private servers. While safer seas are a thing in the game, the type of server I'm proposing does not have to be more than 2x2 squares and won't yield any reputation and/or gold. It will be simply for 2 sloops thus up to 4 people max. The idea is to have somewhere to practise TDM and ship combat with your friends. This way you can keep trying to fight the same crew over and over and thus improve in every combat aspect. Alternatively allowing everyone to create custom servers (like the once content creators use) and just not have it give any reputation and gold (unless its already like this).

  • Why would you need custom servers to practice stuff like that? Just practice it by playing the game. Unless the thing you want is to be able to put 2 ships of friends on the same server. The reason why they will never give any level of private servers is because if you are in a private server you are not in a public server. They don't want the whole playerbase to just be hiding in guild dens or private servers.

Best practice is actual combat, or as some would suggest. Fight Skeleton Fleets.

You are fighting the same ship, same people. So you only improve on what your friends are best at, you need to fight the more "unknown" to fully grasp it. Players are tricky and some arent all about meta and tend to use more....other means.

  • @burnbacon with all respect, I dont need you to tell me about basics of pvp in this game. I want to practise specifically with my friends because I know what they are best at and I want to learn to counter specifically that aspect. My friend is an exceptional helm, might be one of the best on EU, and I want to play against him cause then its a real challenge. The hourglass today is barely filled with skilled players and the "unknown" you are referring to are people using grapple sword or cheaters.
Also there is no way you consider fighting skeleton ships a good way to sharpen your pvp skills. They are only good to learn the very basic principles, they are not a challenge for anyone with more than 30 hours in the game.
