Dynamic Portaits!

  • I've been thinking about paintings lately and how cool they are, but I realized they could be more personalized for players. What if you could buy dynamic portraits from the pirate emporium? Not animated ones, but portraits of your pirate, your pirate with your ship, you with your pet, or even a group picture of your guild!

This could work through the trinket menu. You'd place the Dynamic Portrait, then use the menu to select different people, poses, places, and pets. Want a group picture with your guild on the beach at Smuggler's Bay? Done. A picture of your dog sleeping on your bed? Easy. How about your pirate sitting on a rock, watching the sunrise over the sea? Absolutely!

Maybe the poses could be tied to the emotes you own, with each emote doubling as a pose. For guild paintings, the GuildMaster could set it up, but the emote options would include all guildmates' emotes, so everyone could use their signature pose.

You could also buy extra backgrounds from the emporium, get as many dynamic portraits as you want, and adjust the shape of each portrait as needed.

In conclusion, this "Rare" opportunity has the potential to earn you thousands; regardless of the player or their age, nearly everyone will want this because they can personalize it to make it uniquely theirs.

  • @craftergames706 This would very quickly be abused to make photos of inappropriate things, they would have to make it set positions and set poses or else it would be too easy to make lewd content.

I fullheartedly agree @PotatoSord, if you read my post you will see I already mentioned it being pose-based.

  • @craftergames706 They would also need to have those set poses in set positions far enough apart that it couldn't ever be used to make something like that. It would be such a limited system in order to stop people from abusing it.

  • At that point, you might as well have a "report portrait" button. It's the same for guilds, ships, and pet names, as there's no real issue here that hasn't been addressed elsewhere already.

    I once heard someone say:

"The platform of creative expression is never the problem when it comes to inappropriate content; rather, the problem is the person creating the content. It's not the paper's fault; it's the artist's fault."

These people will keep doing strange things and getting in trouble regardless, so why punish the normal player out of fear that someone might do something bad they'd find another way to do anyway?

  • @craftergames706 Because you can use text filters to stop the vast majority of bad names, so the report function mainly serves to be used for reporting things which get around these filters. You cannot use a filter to objectively say a pose or set of poses is inappropriate like you can with a word or set of words.
