The only thing Sea of Thieves lacks is the ability to have fun within a large community. If a streamer wanted to play with their community, it would take too long to join or whatever. Why not do it for a fee? Pay for a server; the price depends on the number of seats.
I love the game, but sailing a boat alone, without seeing anyone, for hours on end is a shame.
Not doing it for fear of having servers full of people setting up hacks? The price might discourage some, but in any case, cheats exist.
We should make it possible to still complete achievements, but not all of them, reduce rewards, like experience and gold received after a quest or expedition, not give as much experience when fishing, and so on. I know a lot of streamers like the game, but don't go because either the current PvP doesn't interest them, or because they can't interact with the community/don't have enough people.

There are Servers with invites; they are rolled out to /tested by (?) SoT Partners. These do & should have no gold or reputation at all.
I think personal servers will be a late game feature. In 5 to 10 years time when the player base has moved on and rare is not doing new content. Those who still love the game will have the option of hosting. Until then it risks depleting the player base as some players would just do that, even with no gold or accommodations.
