Main Menu Overhaul

  • So with Pirate Profiles on the horizon, I believe now is the perfect time to revisit and refresh the main menu experience., and us having the ability to select from multiple pirates, I feel like now would be the best time and opportunity to finally refresh the main menu. It's needed it for a long time, and I made a concept and some points for what it could look like and feature.

    • Multiple Pirates, One Tavern: All of your pirates appear in a tavern performing various idle animations. One might be playing cards, another sharpening a sword, cleaning an Eye of Reach, or drinking grog. You simply click on the pirate you want to play as for that session.

    • Customizable Tavern Backgrounds: Choose from tavern locations like Sea Dogs, Pirate Legend Hideout, Reapers Lair, Sea of the Damned tavern, and more to set your own style and add more expression.
Accurate Equipment Display: Right now, the default sailor equipment shows during some idle animations in the menu. It would be great if the menu reflected your actual equipment you use, so your favorite sword, eye of reach, or tankard appears in hand.

    • Theme Song Selector: Imagine being able to choose your favorite past main menu music to set the mood. Whether it's the new Reaper's Requiem song, or the Captains of Adventure theme of Season 7, it would be nice to choose from each seasons theme song for the main menu.
I think a refreshed menu like this would make logging in feel more personal and immersive. It’s been long overdue, and with Pirate Profiles coming soon, there’s no better time to do this kind of refresh.

What would you want to see in a main menu overhaul?

  • Something that is just background voids. Some of us don’t even look at the screen anymore. Just click, click and set sail.

Would it be nice to customize? Sure. How many would actually do it and is it worth the time?

@kinghotdogpig there is waaaay more important stuff that sea of thieves needs to FIX before ADDING more content

It's UI adjustments and using already-ingame assets to enhance an incoming feature. This suggestion is fine, no worries here

  • I don't like the main menu that takes up too much performance.
Why add a background to the main menu as well? And do we still need complex customizable backgrounds?
Some people's computer configurations may not be excellent enough, don't these people deserve to play this game?
The game does not allow long periods of absence. When you remain still for 10 minutes, the game will take you out of the server. To save server resources.
People are waiting for friends or something else on the main menu of the game (i.e. before you select a ship to sail).
Your proposal will increase the performance occupancy of the game in the main menu.

  • I do wonder how they're going to go about pirate profiles and how we are going to choose. Frankly, I don't see a way pirate profiles end up being used unless they change it so that you can use your previous cosmetics on your new pirate. There likely will be menu changes when they add profiles but I don't think it'll be much
