Extension to "Disable Ship Trinket Interactions" Setting

  • I've had the disable ship trinket interactions setting turned on basically since release, but there are still niche instances in which a trinket interaction can be disruptive (even with the setting on). With all of the various trinkets, they will move out of place while sailing.. which then allows for a new interaction to re-adjust the positioning of them.

This proves to be an issue on a sloop, specifically while attempting to guard against a boarder from below via the window. If the boarder closes the window from ladder, the defender needs to be able to open it back up as soon as possible. In trying to do so, there is a chance of performing that adjustment to a trinket instead of opening the window first. This then requires a second input to open the window up, as the adjustment can take priority - which can be the difference between successfully preventing the board or not. I can see how something like this was overlooked, as it does not occur that often, but is still frustrating to deal with. I've also noticed it on brig while trying to grab ammo - certain angles will prioritize readjusting the floor trinket instead.

It would be nice to build upon this "Disable Ship Trinket Interactions" setting by also preventing players from being able to fix trinkets when this setting is enabled. Otherwise, the only other workaround is turning the setting off every time I play the game and remove all the trinkets, before turning the setting back on again - which is definitely inconvenient prior to setting up to dive for hourglass. Small change, but would appreciate having the setting prevent all possible trinket interactions, instead of just placing/removing them from locations on the ship.

  • I really don't understand how there is no priority system for interactions. If I have a board in my hand, and I am looking at a hole in my ship, I have to position myself so the game doesn't think I want to interact with trinkets instead of patching the hole. I have to position myself so it doesn't think I'm trying to use the ammo box. I have a board in my hands, why would I want to reload? I have lost multiple fights because when I tried to patch it just refused and tried to adjust a trinket or reload or change my weapons instead.
