Friends/guild members on separate ships (Fleets) in game.

  • Having your friends and guild members on a separate ship(s) is an idea that I think would be cool. And seperate ships are possible through the private server option. But you need special access to use them. I suggest adding the ability for friends and guild members to join the same server on separate ships. If this was added, they would be called fleets. Here's how I picture it. make ships appear on the map and split the gold; just like an emissary. Also, possible Fleet accommodations and rewards can be added. To protect server performance, a crew size based limit could be added. 24 players adds up to 3 fleets with a capacity equivalent to either 2 full galleons, 8 full brigantines, or 12 full sloops. A possible ship communication system could be added. For example, a notification to the fleet that appears when a ship is under attack. To avoid greif, fleet members cannot damage each others ships, or themselves. Due to the scale of content, This possible feature could be released as it's own season. This would be appropriate as a new season leads to a spike in players.

I Hope this goes into consideration.

  • This game doesn't need alliance servers.

Rare could make it so everyone has access to custom servers.
Of course no gold and reputation can be earned there.

If no risk is involved, no rewards should be given!
If you want PvE servers feel free to hop on safer seas.

Ps: 6 ships is the maximum a server can handle.

  • @dermasterbob Yea, only agressive pvp servers... Dude, there a lot of players who don't like pvp and just wanna play with friends.

  • @drm1santhrope
This is a PvEvP game at its core!
Player interactions are the one thing that makes this game fun, so if you take that away and replace every person you randomly meet with one of your friends, then the gameplay suffers under it.

It also takes away all of the risk just like safer seas, so if rare considers doing this, they would have to implement hard restrictions on everything, even more then on Safer Seas.

Its more likely that they give custom server access to every player, with no gold and reputation to be earned.
There you can play with all your friends and have fun.

  • @drm1santhrope said in Friends/guild members on separate ships (Fleets) in game.:

@dermasterbob Yea, only agressive pvp servers... Dude, there a lot of players who don't like pvp and just wanna play with friends.

Well... they bought a car expecting to ride a bike. Ain't nobody gonna remove 2 wheels for ya.

Safer Seas it is, for them.

  • @r3vanns u can't upgrade faction rep etc. in safe sea, so it has no sense to play in it. And I bougth this game in 2019 not for pvp, only for coop with friends, and I don't wanna play pvp in open sea, so rare must give me this oportunity, this isn't only pvp game, it's not tarkov or cs or dota 2 where pvp is core gameplay, there are a lot of pve activitys in SoT, but same old song "pvp heart of game", really tired of this...

  • @dermasterbob pvp - fun for u, for me isn't fun to be killed by random galeon without any reason, pvp - isn't core gameplay, its not extraction shooter or session competitive game like dota/cs. Most developers already understood, that small amount of people only pvp enjoyers - most part of communitys - pve players, and reason why SoT diyng (15k peak online - is death for mmo game) - is people like u. New players try to play pve modes, guys like u killing them time after time and they just quit game and never coming back. But I know, that pvp players can't understand such complicated arguments, so I will not even try explain this again.

  • @drm1santhrope Brother, this game from inception has always been advertised as a PvPvE game - elements of both coexist. I'm sorry that you don't enjoy PvP, but you wouldn't go to a pizza parlor and expect them to give you a ribeye steak dinner.

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
