Boosting in hourglass

  • Players blatantly playing with known cheaters should have their HG rep wiped. Cheaters are making a large amount of real world money boosting anyone who's bad enough to pay them. Wiping rep from boosted players would help discourage cheating.

Or make people less likely use the tool to find pvp. Heck I rather they just remove HG at this point

  • Honestly I don't know why this isn't the case at this point. In CSGO, Rainbow 6 Siege, every other competitive online game I can think of, if you are on a team with a cheater and they get reported and punished, you don't get any rep from that match.

  • @burnbacon Players who are boosting with cheaters aren't playing the game mode to begin with, so your supposed point is entirely invalid.

With HG, at least half of cheaters are in HG. Remove HG, and they'll just completely harass everybody in HS as well.

It changes nothing, and would only make it worse for regular sandbox players.

  • I think specifically wiping all hourglass rep for playing with cheaters is too hard a rule and would be too difficult to enforce fairly.

However, I think that the core idea behind it, of some kind of penalty to reputation, XP, or progress for cheaters, is a good idea and could go a long way to discouraging the behaviour, because there'd actually be a risk of losing something. Having a temporary ban is like saying to a thief "You can keep what you stole, but you're not allowed back in the shop for 3 days", when there's every chance they weren't going to come back during those three days anyway.

That all being said, I'm sure Rare have considered all this and have their reasons for deciding against it, though I would be interested to know what those reasons are.

  • @xzodeak there should be some sort of flag/strike system (if there already isn't one with the new point system); but yes, 100%.

If you accidentally play with a cheater in LFG or open crew... that seems innocent, but it should flag your account. If you habitually play with players who are banned for cheats, and your acct has been flagged enough times... strip all HG rep and yellowbeard the account. Make them start fresh.

Hell, make them have negative HG rep that they have to climb their way out of first lol. If they don't learn their lesson from the yellow & repeat the offense, red them.

  • @theblackbellamy agreed there needs to be a strike rather than instant action. You are not accountable for the actions of your crew....I joined lfg gally once and our bilge started telling us when he could see boarders outside of boat so I left after that match but no way of vetting that beforehand

Some people base their entire gameplay off of hourglass.

Removing would anger a lot of people.
