Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a concept idea that could bring back the Black Market and missed time-limited cosmetics — something many pirates (including myself) have been hoping for.
The Core Idea:
If you played during or near the time an event took place, but for whatever reason missed out on earning certain skins or cosmetics, you’d now have a second chance to obtain them. Not for free, of course — this would involve a reworked Black Market system where these items return under very specific conditions.
How It Works:
Access to the item would be limited to players who were active during the original event window (or a surrounding grace period).
To unlock the item, you’d either:
Spend a large number of Doubloons, OR
Complete a challenging task or voyage tied to the cosmetic’s theme.
This would keep the prestige of the cosmetics (still time-sensitive, still exclusive to a player era).
Offers a grind-worthy goal for returning or long-time players.
Provides a reason to bring back and expand the Black Market, which I for my part miss
This could tie in with the upcoming Smuggler’s faction. I mean what else is there to smuggle really?
In summary:
Reintroduce missed cosmetics through a revamped Black Market, accessible only to players active during the original events. Unlock via high Doubloon costs or difficult themed tasks. This system could integrate into the Smuggler’s faction for lore and gameplay cohesion.
Footnote: Personally, I missed out on Merrick’s Drum, the Forsaken Ashes Sword, and the Bonecrusher Sails — I’d love to earn them now, espicially because I was actively playing when these cosmetics were available.
