Add a toggle for safer seas

  • I like the idea of safer seas. I don't like having to exit my current game to create a new lobby.

    Rare, please consider adding a toggle/button or whatever so that we can just dive into safer seas and than dive back to high seas when we're ready.

    It would be so much easier to transition between PvE and PvP. Put a cooldown on it so that players can't exploit it. Done.

    Honestly, I'm surprised this isn't already a thing.

    With many other features that seem more practical and actually worth the time to add.

  • I agree, Safer Seas and High Seas are completely different instances. Probably would be a lot of work to make it switchable by diving.

    That would be very impractical, as you're not sailing on a Captained ship on Safer Seas you might want to on High Seas, so with that "toggle" would come the selections for Sailing for a Guild or My Ships and the choices that follow.

    I don't think that many people switch between the two in one session to make it worth it either.

    Obviously, all treasure should float up on the server they left including the Emissary flag that will not be there on Safer Seas.

    I guess they don't want to lose their supplies when someone wants to join but would rather play on High Seas; I'd say that would be exploitable by having a very easy time collecting supplies.

  • As others already pointed out, there are a few issues with this idea.
    Captained ships have to turn uncaptained when diving to Safer Seas
    Emissaries have to be deleted when diving to Safer Seas
    And the other way around youll start without a captained/guild ship into high seas when diving

    Therefore this would be a very niche feature, as having no captained ship is not an option for most players in high seas, so starting in safer seas and diving to high seas wont be used much.
    Same goes the other way around as diving to saver seas makes your ship useless if you intend to dive back.

    I would say it doesnt make sense to add this as a feature.
    Its wasted developer time as the feature most likely wont be used much.

    Who says that, when they aren't even going to bother doing a second look at your idea?
    Like others have stated, outside of the technical constraints I just don't see it as being feasible with so many potential bugs, exploits, and the possibility to just farm up a ton of resources in peace to dive to High Seas...
    It's not even on the drawing board, you're not that guy lil bro.

  • Still trying to understand what the point would be here. You're on high seas, why would a crew want to "dive to safer seas and then back to high seas when they're ready"? Is it to escape if/when you see another ship coming towards you? Is it to get a lot of resources without anyone there that you can now bring to high seas? Crews will lose their emissary flag and captaincy, not sure many will like that.

    Bud they are two separate game modes.

    You can’t just simply “dive” to a separate gamemode.

  • Nah, there's a lot of issues here. I think Safer Seas is fine as it is overall. The only thing I would add to it is allow Captaincy ships on it, beyond that... It's in a good spot. No need to dive between Safer/High Seas.

    Only thing I would say is Nah, reverse everything you just said. OP disagrees it seems with all points of this post.

    Would work if it was done through the Scuttle menu.

    Like you have Scuttle Ship and Scuttle to New sea so if the issues with this idea was ironed out you could add Scuttle to Safer Seas/Dangerous (High) Seas as an option
