toxic player

  • We just started playing the game and we're still learning the ropes.
Today, we had an altercation with a certain ship of toxic players.
These players came and killed us while we were doing a Tall Tale — fine, they sank our ship while it was anchored, okay.
But then they attacked us a second time when we had nothing on our ship, just to make us quit the game, saying, and I quote: "It's funny and it's normal because it's Sea of Thieves."
I'm really sorry, but because of players like this, I don't feel like playing the game anymore.
We can't even learn how to play or enjoy the Tall Tales in peace because of toxic players.

  • Safer Seas is what you're looking for. Great place for the Tall Tales.

Well. They aren’t doing anything toxic
Also, Safer Seas is pretty much the place to do tall tales.

  • @nevygamer27

    1. Record and Report

    2. That's not really toxic unless they threw around some inappropriate language, in which case, refer to number 1.

If someone wants to sink you they will. What makes this toxic? They play to have fun, and sometimes people are in the mood for PvP, which brings them to you.

  • Them sinking you is not toxic unless they used slurs or just camped you for no real reason.

Like RedEyeSith said; Safer Seas is perfect to learn the ropes and do Tall Tales without having anyone interrupt you!

  • @ OP I get it. It's super annoying when you're trying to get any PvE stuff done and you're either interruped by some sweats or just some people in general that have nothing else going on.

Unfortunately, Safer seas is the answer (currently).

Personally I'd like to see Rare add a PvP button to the game so that we can just dive to Safer seas when we want to do PvE stuff and dive back when we're ready to be harrassed again [mod edit].

The forums is probably the worst place to vent though, as it's filled with people that just don't get it, or are the ones doing that kind of stuff in the first place. That's why you're only going to get "ThAt'S nOt ToXiC" as a response.

No, we are saying his encounter wasn't toxic because....IT WASN'T. It was an instance of people playing the game as the developer's intended. It may not be what he or you expected, but that is how the game works and why it is still successful to this day.

Being attacked is not toxic - deal with it or play Safer Seas.

  • Please avoid engaging in personal arguments and derailing the topic of the thread. It is fine to debate the content of the post, and the viewpoints therein, but disrespecting any of your fellow pirates personally is against the pirate code, and our forum rules.

  • Sea of Thieves is best played as an adventure with unknown outcome.

Want to do PvP? - server will be empty!
Want to do PvE and chill? - reaper coming for you asap!
Want to do any commendation that requires other players? - everyone running away from you!

Only way to not get frustrated, is to adapt your playstyle and see it as adventure.

Finally managed to get your reaper emissary flag to 5?
Found another player emissary on the map? Lets go there before he sells! - oh no: kraken! :-)

Found yourself some evenly balanced crew to fight against? - skelly gally incoming for you!

The game is messing with you all the time. Learn to enjoy and embrace the chaos. ;-)
The more you try to force your own ideas and playstyle onto the game, the more chances of getting frustrated.

And if you really want to do only Tall Tales, then yes: do it in Safer Seas. No need to worry about PvP there.
note: Safer Seas will not safe you from Kraken, Megalodons and Skelly Ships! =D

Honestly, people can be toxic without needing to use slurs... The problem is that it depends heavily on context, tone, what is being said, etc which we have no idea without video evidence. Heck, spamming the pirate's chat I can see as being toxic depending on the context.
