Can we have a weapon flare like the cannon flare cosmetic for the ships? Maybe change the way the pellets look or add smoke effects, etc.

I believe i recommended this some time back, but a powder flare on guns would honestly add so much more personality to your character. Probably would be the only thing to convince me to get some of the wacky ones from the emporium, assuming they make it so each cannon one works on weapons as a universal "powder flare", rather than per weapon.
But if they opted to make special weapon variants you earned, i would hope they made them pretty unique, possibly a few special ones being like a classic style curse in rarity. Could even be a good option to pad out some of the duller areas of hg where there are no good rewards.
