Emergent Boar Wallows - Pristine megalodon items - Kraken loot

  • Obviously, the wallows are broken on High Seas. 9/10 wallow are empty. My assumption is that when a player interacts with these wallows, they don't de-spawn properly, but they still count as active, which then blocks new emergent boars from spawning at other islands on the same server.

Being on Safer Seas where no other players have been on the islands before you, sailing around the map checking all the big islands, there can be anything from 1-3 emergent boar wallows on a server. Most commonly there are 2 islands with active emergent boars on the server and when you do find them, they are NEVER empty. They either have 3, 4 or 5 items in them.

I don't even understand why you can find Ancient megalodon (Redmaw or Dreaded) items in these wallows, but then make the Ancient Meg have a 0 chance of dropping Pristine Meg Tooth or Scale.

The loot pool of the emergent boar wallow is already unnecessarily diluted on top of an already insane RNG in the hunt of these extremely rare Megalodon scales and tooth.
    2 wallows per server.
Sometimes the wallow has 5 items, meaning no room for random items to be dug.
Wallows can have 8 unique items from the Ancient Megalodons (Grisly scales, grisly tooth, pristine scale and pristine tooth). Items that you can literally farm by being Grade 5 Hunters Call Emissary and specifically hunting these Ancient Megs.
You can also find other type of loot like gems, merchant crates and pristine boar tusks.
The loot pool is way too big.

This wouldn't have been an issue if normal megalodons had an increased chance of spawning these pristine items, but they don't. You can kill 10 megs and get 0 pristine items.

The Kraken can drop these items, but if you are on a sloop, you only get to take out 2 tentacles before it dies. Each tentacle drops 2-3 items. Not even worth it seeing how low the drop rate of the pristine items is.

If you are on a brig or a galleon, it takes 7-12 tentacles to kill it. That is between 11-33 more items than a sloop kraken drops, but it comes with a downside.
You kill tentacles far away from the ship (each tentacle drops treasure), so the treasure will be scattered across the entire area that was covered in kraken ink in small loot piles, meaning a bunch of it will just sink to the depths.

Increase the kraken difficulty from 2 to 4 or 5 tentacles, to make it more balanced compared to the other ships. And then have all the loot spawn in one pile like everything else in the game does.

Not mine. Every large island there always something or someone who already got the items.

Ancient Meg have a 0 chance of dropping Pristine Meg Tooth or Scale.

I can’t grasp this issue. Maybe it’s because I’m on console? I’ve defeated the Corel Meg many times and it always gifts one or two.

I say it way too small. Mostly since it still very new they want it still be connected to Hunters Call, hence all the HC items.

You can kill 10 megs and get 0 pristine items.

Again. Must be a console thing. I’ve killed 5 almost back to back and had 3 pristine. Small yes but better than 0

Increase the kraken difficulty from 2 to 4 or 5 tentacles

They nerf it because it was to difficult for a duo. (If it even spawns anymore)

They work on Safer Seas, but not on High Seas. Empty wallows shouldn't stick around for hours after being emptied. If that was the intended feature, a new Grand would spawn, and the wallow refilled with treasure after a set amount of time.

My bad. I should have been more specific. The Ancient Megs (Redmaw or Dreaded) does never drop the STANDARD megalodon pristine items. But they do drop specific items based on what meg you are fighting. So, the Barnacle Dread can drop a Pristine Scale where the item name will specifically say "Pristine Scale of Barnacle Dread".
These items can be literally farmed by hunting the specific Ancient megalodon by being Grade 5 HC, like I said earlier. Which is why I think it's a poor decision to have 8(!) of these specific ancient meg items spawn in the Emergent boar wallows, decreasing the chances of finding boar tusks or the extremely rare normal meg items.

Posting a picture of each, in case you are still confused and/or have never seen the Pristine Megalodon Tooth before 🙂

There is no Hunters Call items in emergent boar wallows. Only in Boar Voyage wallows.

Not a console thing. It's a game thing. The RNG and drop rate for the Pristine Megalodon items dropped by megalodons or kraken it just silly.

I know why they nerfed it. That's not why I brought it up.
If they ever were to consider making the Kraken loot float up in one pile, instead of being scattered across the ocean in tiny piles where each tentacle was killed, they would either have to make the sloop Kraken stronger to make it balanced compared to brig and galleon to justify the amount of treasure dropped, or they could just give less loot compared to the other two.

I have specifically been looking for these items for the past 3 weeks in between doing all the other new voyages and commendations and I'm up to 15/20 items sold for both items.
I've sailed around the entire map on Safer Seas probably 20-30 times and found a bunch of untouched wallows. But like I said, sometimes the wallow is full, meaning they've got 5 items in them already. So that wallow won't have a free dig spot.
I've done enough sailing on both High Seas and Safer Seas to get an understanding of where the problem lays.

Casual players will never get close to completing these challenges. They will be lucky if they find 1 or 2 items in a month of just normally playing the game. And this is why I brought this up.
