Not expanding on safer seas and at this point making it a full blown pve mode is wild.

  • Hello,

I played this game day one when it first came out, but after many years of leaving it, I have came back to give it a try. Not only have I enjoyed safer seas so much more than higher seas, it has made me also realize that rare is sitting on top of a goldmine. I dont know about you but when I get on after college work, I just dont care to loot and than get trolled and lose all of my stuff, I also don't care for being capped at reputation 25. So its ok for players to constantly stalk me, and sink my ship over and over again right after getting the loot on the island and being forced to put up with that simply for just wanting to play the game? Not only is that a complete waste of time, but unproductive. Higher seas is not fun, I know the developers might not like hearing that, but its not the developers faults, its the players who constantly just go for sinking ships. Yes I get that's the point of the game, but at some point and time, it gets old, and I want to just get on with my friends and play the game without being arbitrarily capped. After looking through the threads more, it appears that Rare has no intention of expanding safer seas, and I respect and understand that decision, but also I think your making a huge mistake in the long run. Just expand safer seas and make the game enjoyable for people who don't want to deal with constant trolling. If Rare wants players to come back to this game than expanding safer seas would accomplish that, and no sorry but selling the game on battle net, especially when its already available on steam isn't gonna bring in more pc players. I wanted to get into this game so much more, but being told "Play higher seas then" just to experience the full game, honestly just makes me want to go play a different game. Maybe its just me and this game wasnt made for me, that could be the case but I strongly doubt it, if you didn't want pve players than why add so much pve content than? Makes absolutely no sense at all. Love the game, and the day that Rare decides to expand safer seas ill gladly come back until than, im gonna go play something else. I know that alot of people will disagree with me and thats ok, I wish you all the best on Sea of Thieves and sweating and dealing with toxic trolls when you just want to play and enjoy the game after work or college. I truly wish you god speed in putting up with that because, i only came back for two weeks and im already burnt of it happening. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

    Stay safe and take care.

    Thanks

    Josh

  • I've played this game since day one.
Do you think I reminisce about when I dug up my 347th captains chest? Or rather when I had an epic fight over a world event?
There's lots of PvE only games to play, but how many PvEvP games with a bit of a thrill are there?
Stop asking to change the game completely because you can't handle waiting 30 seconds for your boat to respawn.

  • No, im sorry that you dont like my opinion and that is totally ok, but i will offer my feedback and opinion, regardless if you like it or not.

  • @rambobrad There's lots of PvE only games to play, but how many PvEvP games with a bit of a thrill are there? Good point, but only one flaw with that; maybe its because a good portion of players dont care for PvEvP games and just move on to games that have a heavier focus in pvp or pve. Theres a good reason why not many of them are out there, because the majority doesn't care for them.

  • @joshuab0943 Yea but every game doesn't have to appeal to everyone. Just let us have this one

  • @rambobrad im not asking it to appeal to everyone, I think it would be better if rare focused on the pvp side or pve side more and it overall would benefit the game and bring players back in more. I would prefer it if they focused more on the pve side, but again thats just me. It is extremely hard to please both pve and pvp players that is why most companies simply focus on one, and guess what it works. I get your point but you have to understand that I just dont care to get on and deal with sweats and just want to play the game and have fun.

  • plus to add on top of that, if safer seas wasnt so restricted i could also play the game and not deal with the hackers.

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
