  • Metas form in every game, you're free to use what you want though why worry about how other people choose to play.

    Because a lot of the PvP community just uses the meta. Even more hilarious: some even demand PvP gets refreshed, but at the same time hypocritically cry when their meta is threatened...

    I think there's a 50/50 in people who want the meta to drastically shape up and ones that just want it to be the same for the next 10 years of this games life.

    To play devils advocate by the way, most of the complaints where about changing the core weapons that have existed for the past 7 years and not because of some weapon introduction which by the way failed horribly in shaping up the meta.
    The new weapons are fun to dunk on swabbies/PvE but are a nightmare to PvP against good players. Like what is a mimick or poison dart going to accomplish against good crews? Nothing.

  • @veronik5682 I do agree with you that a mimic dart for instance would be useless against good crews. But i mean more that if a weapon would become viable, they would imidiately complain that that weapon is to OP, just because it outshines their EoR/blunder combo.

    To be clear: i am against the blunder nerf they did (Rare said it was to combat the grapple gun, but the whole nerf made it useless against the grapple, because players will just grapple back to your ship when you blunderbuss them off...). But i do believe they should do something about the EoR for close ranges, since good crews can just use it like they can use the pistol, but the EoR does more damage, so that is a problem with the balance. The EoR should be good in longer distances, but it currently now also is to powerfull on closer distances.

    I always agreed about the EOR, that it's used as a pistol because not only is it used for long/close range but also the damage output.

    • Pistol has the benefit of being able to two tap someone in combination with reload anim cancelling before they have a chance to eat. But most good players have learned to pre-eat, therefore making the hand making pistol kinda 'useless'.

    Also 50Dmg from a pistol means you sometimes won't be able to finish someone off with a blunderbuss as a secondary if you need 5 guaranteed pellets to connect mid range and not hit reg, ALSO trying to two tap pistol with hit reg in this game is asking for a dice roll... Either way just explaining SOME of the reasons why the EOR is used over the pistol + blunder sniper for others reading.

    • If they wanted to make Pistol on par with the EOR or vice Versa, they should force the EOR to enter the scope animation in order to fire, or simply you hip fire instead which is wildly inaccurate.
