These voyages are reminiscent of the old Merchant Voyages, where you can go anywhere on the map to collect the specific item you need. Plus, why should the new hunter's call voyages ignore the features that were originally used to level up the company? Going around the map to collect the regular fish types for a bit of extra gold and reputation is also the perfect way to encourage players to grind for Legendary Hunter.
Recipe Requests should be a permanent addition, not just for this event.
I also enjoyed the voyage and thought it would be a great addition and motivation to fish those "old" fish. Of course, the gold and rep could depend on the difficulty and time required to complete the recipe, so I imagine those containing rare fish and blackloud wreckers would be really lucrative....

Would be a nice addition to the HC and encourages old school fishing with a goal to aim for.If they ever add the ability to choose an Emissary Voyage, I think the Recipe Request would make a good alternative to the Ancient Meg marker. It would need to be tweaked a little but I'm all in favour of making them permanent.
(Also, RIP my near-perfect cooking stat for My Story So Far, I have to burn meat on purpose now! XD)
I was just about to make this thread, I want this type of mission but toned down a little. Make it 2 recipes where they pay better than base fish prices but obviously not this extreme rewards. Call it Hunter's call Recipe request or something.
Then they can keep the Merrick's Recipe requests that pay handsomely as either
- an alternative to or even make it an emmisary quest alongside the Megs on the map
- Give us one in addition to or as an alternative to the Voyage of luck every month. VOLs arnt really worth it unless you get the gold map to be a once a month drop anyways.
That's a fair point. There are two levels of fishing voyage. You could have two levels of recipe voyage. The 2 course common animals and the three course rare trophy fish with the rewards it deserves.
I loved this. It made the same old content feel fresh. And I wasn't certain I could turn in each piece as I went so I "stacked" 6 meats. Felt as risky as a ship fully stacked with treasure. Also felt so smug as I arrived at mermaids at dusk for my Moonsky and then reached the wilds the following evening perfectly for my coral Wildsplash.
Strong vote for this to be emissary or just normal mission.
