i can waste hours swappin crews till i get a server less than 200 ping the game wants me to play with people from the other side of the globe all i get is 200 to 500 ping and rarely times i get in my server where it is between 60 to 90. I don't mind having optional longer que times for open crew as exchange for being able to play the game

You mentioned optional so that's alright but many of these stamps are low activity so the wait could be significantly longer than people estimate.
Depending on area and time of day there could be 30 minutes to an hour+. Then if they just leave that's a bunch more time.
Not a lot of reward for the dev work, imo.
Most people would have a much better chance of finding something compatible with the multiple attempt strategy.
@wolfmanbush I don't see how that would be too much work. Maybe even a simple "if statement" to stop joining high ping servers.
It's a waste of time for everyone joining a 300 ping crew just to instantly leave.
Why not just launch your own ship and then open your crew (options my crew there is a setting to change the open crew). I wasn't aware open crew had the ability to find you such a range of servers but doing this should ensure you are on your local ones (although based on your troubles, you may find it struggles to fill the spot).
I would generally recommend lfg or discord etc to look for other players, open crew has higher frequency of trolls looking to sabotage your ship.
