Craziest exploit in the game right now

  • Hello, I have sent a ticket to Rare about this issue and said they were looking into it but it's getting quite ridiculous.

If the post should be moved or deleted, then I understand mods.

Last night, me and my two friends stumbled across two Galleons, parked at Picaroon Palms with 20-40 reaper chests on the island. We go over there and they are exploiting the voyage you get from killing an Ashen Captain, no clue how this happens or how they are doing it but they knew what they were doing.

    Before attacking

Fast forward, we sink them and managed to get a better look at the island, there was probably 100+ Ashen keys & chests scattered all over the island + the big pile the Galleons themselves had. They kept on coming back, swearing in Russian. Two Sloops decided to help us and we took them down probably 4-5 times each until we made it to reapers. We probably missed some loot but in total we gained well over 4000 doubloons.

    After attacking

Thousands of cannonballs, chains, cursed cannon-balls & anything in between was EVERYWHERE.

Wanna bring attention to this exploit since you can make unlimited amount of doubloons & supplies, which you can later use in Hourglass or PvP.

  • Why sell loot from exploits though?

Just on principle. People cheese the game all the time but if it's worth bringing up I wouldn't consider it clean loot.

I don't like any of the cheesing stuff in this game but this one got a thread so that's just my opinion.

We've literally seen people get insta-yeeted for selling loot-duped stuff. Rare fish being the most wild example.

I personally wouldn't take the risk, but at the same time it's probably easy to go back and prove it wasn't you that actually DID the loot duping....but still not worth the risk and inconvenience if there was an action taken in your account.

Between mixed messaging, a history of it sliding more than it didn't, and people looking to influencers in the community as their source of "yay or nay" there really isn't much concern in the community about cheesing/exploiting.

One of the recent videos or posts (mighta been state of play) made it seem like people are exploiting less because they fear consequences more, could not be further from the truth lol. From pve to combat it's all over the place. Unfortunately a lot of people have been dismissing the pve exploits with the "it doesn't hurt you" excuse to cheese the game.

People love to lecture about it or report it when on the seas but they often engage in it themselves in one way or another. Or just contribute to dismissing it when their friends do it.

If people aren't scared to do all these launch/board exploits all day long and other combat exploits, they definitely aren't worried about pve exploits.

Because someone will sell it, I don't expect to keep it. Even requested to get it removed, I don't need any of the gold/doubloons but I rather get it gone from the server than someone else gets it aka the exploiters that was doing it.
This isn't a basic cheese, cheesing the game is re-rolling voyages to avoid sailing around. This is a dupe-exploit that makes you skip hours upon hours of actual grinding or even years. How long does it take to get 1000 doubloons currently? 4.5 times that in a matter of an hour or two.

The fact people can also stack cursed-cannonballs and then hop into HG to destroy people is a huge issue too, since HG is plagued with other problems already.

To me this is like saying "I robbed the robber so that a robber doesn't keep it".

That ain't robin hood stuff, that's just robbin'

  • @wolfmanbush

If a 8-man crew keeps coming at you over and over again, eventually they will win and get the stuff back. What do you suggest I should do at that point?

Me selling it and hopefully making rare delete it after is the best way of solving it.

Just because people aren't worried about it doesn't mean nothing will happen.

Try to do what is right by the environment and things work out alright, get too greedy and dip into exploiting and extremely cheesy stuff and that'll often catch up to people eventually, in one way or another.

It's a game, none of us are heroes by sailing around in a game. Whether you report it or not is entirely up to you but there really isn't much of a reason to get involved beyond that. It's not a situation where someone is in danger or something that serious.

Things get muddy when you involve yourself in some shady activity. Never really worth it when there isn't immediate danger and when you really can't do much beyond just being a part of the situation.

  • @wolfmanbush

You didn't answer the question at all.

If I can stop someone from "cheating" the game, then I happily do it. Doesn't make me a hero but I can at least stop them that once and then report it and hopefully something will come out of it.
Better than standing on the side, letting it happen like you suggested. It's a PvPvE game after all and interacting with other crews is part of that.

I wanna strive to make the game more enjoyable for others if possible. If everyone had your mindset then issues like these would never get patched or surface to begin with.

Season 13. Exploits everywhere. I avoided BB comms until season 14 after the major exploits were patched.

The exploits got patched and I didn't touch any dirty loot or get involved in any of the exploits of that season.

Season 11. I didn't go anywhere near the sea fort and other raid exploits, didn't sell any dirty loot. Stuff got patched.

Athena shipwreck exploits. I didn't touch, steal or sell any of that loot. Got patched.

It gets patched because of the reports and then the time it takes for them to figure out how they are going to approach it, not from people taking actions into their own hands while in the game.

Any responsible support system is gonna tell you to report it and keep yourself safe. In this situation it would mean not adding items from exploits to your account. Even when the intent is good. They could remove it from the accounts of the ones doing it just as easily as they can yours.

    Red Sea

Patched and even before the patch, people could still get it if they really wanted to.

Only real way to do it would be to let it sink somewhere and defend for 10 minutes. Outside of the areas that people use for siren song spawns.

Possible but pretty pointless. Either the people get rolled back or they get away with it. Spending a bunch of time messing with exploiters just slows things down until they move along. They have the strats to just make up for any "losses".

People that are not bound by a shared code or concern don't lose ego/spite battles. There is always spin to act like they did but they don't, they don't view the environment the same way. They only lose to consequences and even that is rare. Always best to move along rather than drag it on.

  • @xdragonman15558

    Patched long time ago

  • The island spawns have been working this way for as long as I can remember. Maybe recent changes with the loot and the addition of the Skeleton Camps have made it more exploitable.

That's why I record all my game play.

  • @itz-majman it’s not a new “exploit” and they are aware of it and have attempted to patched it. If you feel someone is breaking the rules it’s best to contact support, as the mods would say. Here’s the link to create a new ticket https://support.seaofthieves.com/requests/new
