Hardware ban to combat ban evasion

  • There is no excuse for how many cheaters are sailing the seas. Rare has made little to no effort combating cheaters, as they can easily make a new account and continue cheating.

There should be a hardware ban where the serial number of their hardware is taken and they blacklist them from playing the game. Not only would this prevent the cheaters from creating new accounts on their devices, but it would mean that cheaters would need to spend hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on new hardware if they want to ban evade. Moreover, if it is legal of course, Sea of Thieves should scan the files of players that are connected with the game to detect any hacks or suspicious files.

I know that it's a big game, and cheaters are going to find a way to cheat on the seas, but Rare has to show at least some effort into tackling this issue before the game ends up being unplayable.

  • If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. As this is a matter for Support and not the Forums, I'll be dropping anchor here.
