The Grinch Stole Christmas Cheer / Christmas Sails Event Request (Ends 22.12.24)

  • (Forwarded In Suggestion After Supportticket With Mermaid Val 15.12.24)

    Dear Rare Team,

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits as we approach the holiday season.
I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts regarding the current Christmas community event, as I have some concerns that I believe could enhance the experience for all participants.
While actively supporting various Twitch partners, I noticed that several prominent creators, such as LadyHaradaNiwa and PhuzzyBond, stopped using the Christmas sails after just a few days.
As a result, it's become quite challenging to spot them on the seas, which detracts from the festive spirit that the event aims to foster.
Additionally, I've seen them express frustrations regarding stream sniping, which further complicates their participation and, in turn, the joy of the event for viewers like myself.
It feels as though the Christmas cheer has been somewhat diminished, especially since I was looking forward to running into them as part of the planned festivities.

I understand that it is ultimately up to the partners to decide whether or not to use the Christmas sails,
but I believe it would be a kind gesture to consider

"making the emote pack available to everyone".

This would not only compensate for the limited participation of some partners but also spread the holiday spirit more widely among the community.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.

I genuinely appreciate your efforts in creating such engaging events and hope my feedback can contribute positively to future celebrations.
Wishing you a beautiful Christmas and a joyful holiday season ahead!

    Warm regards,
    Herring

  • @reds-herring stream sniping might be one issue but they could have also run out of stock, each partner “only” received 30 cosmetic/emote packs to give away.

  • It's generally just a terrible design in a game like SoT.

It causes non-organic content creation to clash with organic play even more than it already does.

It creates even more of this weird power flex thing than what already exists.

It puts some partners in situations of damned if they do and damned if they don't, and misleads random players about what kind of encounters they might be having if they see those sails on the sea.

I don't care about the rewards that they are giving out, as a community event design, it's not good.

Trying to create twitch bubbles on high seas was always going to lead to a lot of awkward encounters.

  • I was curious for the players that can't open their wallets and don't stream snipe how they felt about the holidays around here.

  • If partners aren't doing the event maybe they shouldn't be partners...🤔

The partner program is just a situation where people are hitting required numbers (in theory) for perks. Like drops (that they don't have to participate in) and stuff like ancient coins (that they don't have to spend)

They aren't paid directly so it's not that kind of situation.

Obligations would just be to hit their required numbers and stay within a code of conduct (in theory).

Partners shouldn't be required to participate, the event just shouldn't be a thing in general. Twitch stuff should be twitch stuff and the organic experience should not be interfered with even more than it already is.
