Emporium Extravaganza (December 18th - January 6th) should be starting today instead

  • Not a fan of you starting this event the 18th, a whole week after todays (December 12th) Emporium refresh.

Why not start the Extravaganza event today? People are going to buy the new cosmetics this week, just to realise they have to splash another 2000 during the Christmas holidays after already buying what they actually wanted prior to the event starting next Wednesday.

It's like forcing people to spend money on items they don't really want, just to hit the 2000 criteria, if they want the new sails.

    Not a fan.

    [mod edit]

Some of us arent buying stuff because we havnt gotten our paychecks :p

People are going to buy the new cosmetics this week

That on them. You either wait or dont. Nobody is forcing you.

Just to realise they have to splash another 2000

Who says you Have To? Nobody.

  • @burnbacon

Rare refreshed the Emporium stock today, 6 days prior to the event. Meaning, a lot of people will go check out the newly added cosmetics and spend Ancient Coins. Just to realise an event that requires you to spend 2000 Ancient Coins to obtain some unique sails starts a couple of days later (dirty way to trick people into spending twice, to obtain the sails).
There is no warning about said event, which is why I decided to post it on here.

Some of us arent buying stuff because we havnt gotten our paychecks :p

Completely irrelevant, mate. I could not care less about your paycheck.

Wait for what? Most people aren't vigorously scouring for Sea of Thieves news, and therefore wouldn't know about the upcoming event, which is the entire reason behind me making the initial post on here. It's dirty. The upcoming event is not announced within the game or in the Emporium itself, tricking people into spending Ancient Coins prior to the event, in which you HAVE to spend 2000 Ancient Coins if you want the new sails.

Just to realise they have to splash another 2000

Who says you Have To? Nobody.

Nobody said you have to spend 2000 Ancient Coins to obtain the new sails? What if I told you that Rare said it.
They set the criteria. Spend the money or miss out on the sails.

I'm pretty sure I said it too; in the post you replied to.
But I guess Rare and I are just nobodies. 🤷‍♂️

The event should have started today, December 12th. Simple as that.

  • With all the issues that have been going on I think it would be a good move to bring the sale in early.

but they gotta pay bills and hit whatever numbers they gotta hit, so maybe it's just not realistic at the end of the year for them, dunno.

So unlike a lot of people, you are smart enough to know the event is next week. Why would you wanna buy stuff now?
    Just wait. Simple as that.

There is no warning about said event, which is why I decided to post it on here.

And..you know about the event. :/

Completely irrelevant, mate. I could not care less about your paycheck.

Never said my paycheck. A lot of people dont have the cash on hand, some are spending it atm on christmas. Not everyone has money to buy right now.
I care about the other people who actually have to manage there spendings on digital goods. ^_^

Wait for what? Most people aren't vigorously scouring for Sea of Thieves news, and therefore wouldn't know about the upcoming event

    Wait buy.

If someone misses out, OH WELL. Again, your not entitled to buy anything if you miss out on an event.

    It's dirty.

Maybe, but it is what it is. You either know about that Deal on milk being sold for 2$ less on next Saturday or you dont. Simple facts.

The upcoming event is not announced within the game or in the Emporium itself

And..yet you are here knowing about it like myself. How did you hear about it, that maybe others did not? Possible it was announced elsewhere and word spread.
    Again.

tricking people into spending Ancient Coins prior to the event

How are they tricking you into buying? Im confused on this part here. Where are people, forced into buying stuff before an event? Maybe you dont...

in which you HAVE to spend 2000 Ancient Coins if you want the new sails.

True. But once more. If you dont want the sails...you dont have too.

Nobody said you have to spend 2000 Ancient Coins to obtain the new sails? What if I told you that Rare said it.

Ok, so from your words here, Rare is telling me to buy from there store OR...What will happen to me? They holding me at gun point? They control my money?
and Where has Rare said this? Since as you stated: they havn't announced it ingame or even a warning about the event.

But I guess Rare and I are just nobodies.

Well, idk about you kids but Rare is a big company that makes games and very well know. :/

The event should have started today, December 12th. Simple as that.

Why? Maybe there some people who cant login today, nobody got paid, everyone is busy. What if some people know already next week event and already planned for it?

    • 3 week event, you have 20 days to burn up 2000 ac (not at once). Maybe down the line they will release new stuff? Maybe even have a cheap sale? who to say, Rare has a game plan already since...they havnt announced the already public event :/

Im confused by this whole argument here. Kids be upset they missed buying digital goods.

  • @burnbacon I don't think I'll be reading all that 🙂

Nobody’s being forced to spend their money.

I personally don’t, but it doesn’t feel mutual.

What makes you feel that way? Did I @ you in this conversation?
I don't think I've have ever talked to you on here before, but you blasting into this thread calling me a kid out of nowhere, just to edit it out of your comment is peak high school behaviour. You can do better than that, mate.

  • @kashmero

It all good. Nobody likes to have fun conversation or accept criticism and have a follow up.

    See yea on the Seas.

As for the Emporium, if there was an item you were waiting for but missed because it refreshed, try reaching out to support. Let them know some players were likely holding out for the event to grab it—they might consider bringing it back just for the event. Here’s the link: https://support.seaofthieves.com/requests/new

Crazy that you ask for a conversation, let alone a FUN conversation, when all you do is intentionally omitting context in almost every single quote you make, distorting the intended meaning.

I said about the Extravaganza Event, where you have to spend 2000 Ancient Coins, that it should have started yesterday when the game updated (December 12th), instead of next week on the December 18th.
    Your reply was;

Why? Maybe there some people who cant login today, nobody got paid, everyone is busy. What if some people know already next week event and already planned for it?

Im confused by this whole argument here. Kids be upset they missed buying digital goods.

Why? Because the game just had an update yesterday. And update goes hand in hand with new things added to the game. Yesterday's update was no exception. Emporium was stocked up and people definitely already spent and will keep spending their put-aside Sea of Thieves budget before this event has even begun. So, when the event starts next week, they've already spent the money they put aside for this game, meaning they won't be able to get those fancy sails.
Some won't be able to get on and play at all, because of how busy people are during Christmas. Which is why I argued the event should have started the same day the game had an update, 7 days before this spend all your money event begins.

Why are you arguing against giving people another 7 days to be eligible for obtaining the sails? It's Christmas. The month of giving. The most expensive and busy month of the year for a lot of people.

    You said;

maybe there some people who cant login today, nobody got paid, everyone is busy".

Exactly my point! And none of the people you mention would be affected by Rare starting the event a whole week earlier.. They would still have another 3-4 weeks to log in to the game during Christmas. You are just arguing against yourself at this point.

You clearly are confused, which is why you should have just left it at that. 🙂

Thank you for the clarification. I think my original message was firm but not overly harsh, but I’m sorry if it went against the rules—I didn’t think it did at the time. I’ll try to do better moving forward.

That said, editing my post as it has been and posting this message makes it seem like I was 'insulting' @Kashmero, when my comment was about @BurnBacon, as the original context showed. With that part removed, it feels misleading.

Additionally, I noticed BurnBacon’s posts were also edited, but they weren’t tagged in this message. Could you clarify why only I was mentioned?

    Thank you.
