The Guild Session has ended? What?

  • Got this today while soloing. Had my guild ship sunk, no big deal, so I decided to spend some time on an island for a bit and do some fishing. About 5 minutes later I get a message that says, "The guild session has ended". Sure enough, I go back to my ship and it's no longer registered as a guild ship (and yes, I'm the captain and the only one in the crew). I do a little testing and what do you know? Nothing I turn in adds to guild rep.

My question is, is this a bug or some feature of guilds that apparently isn't logged anywhere?

  • So... Nothing about this? Hhmmm.. if it's a bug, it must be a pretty rare one if no one else has experienced it.

  • @felix-ashur Same happened to me day after the update. Keep an eye on your money when cashing out also.

  • @koohl
Oh? Hhmmm.. So I'm not the only one then.. Weird.. Any idea what seems to be causing it? Maybe the amount of time spent away from the ship or something?
Also, sadly I can't use a reply tag since it's showing your username as a prohibited word.

  • @felix-ashur best way i can explain this is when your ability to view the guild vanishes from your reputation page the game thinks the guild session doesn't exist because it can't find your guild....this doesn't happen all the time but it does every so often.... guilds have had issues for awhile now...was this a borrowed boat or one of your own in the guild?

  • @goutfoot-stiner
Ok. So it seems like it's a sort of network bug of some kind. Good to know.
As for the ship in question, it was one of my own that I pledged to the guild, not one owned by another guild member.

  • @felix-ashur that's even more unusual that guild session issue tends to happen mainly with borrowed ships... I'm sure it's probably just an extension of the issue i was talking about above

  • Yeah, that is really strange there... But I agree with you that it's most likely an extension of that same issue. I do hope some efforts are taken to remedy this. Because even if it only happens rarely, it's still a pretty serious problem, especially with how slowly guilds level (without exploits) already.

It's a bug, I've seen it happen to some streamers as well. I'd recommened submitting a ticket: https://support.seaofthieves.com/requests/new .

Good to know. As for submitting a ticket, it's a little late at this point as it's been several days. And to be fair, it's not like I missed out on too much rep. More than anything I was looking for info on it in an effort to prevent it happening again or at least catch it before it could cause too much trouble. Still, thanks for letting me know that it's known about outside of just me and one other person.

While it's true you won't get your rep and gold back, if an issue gets reported, it will be looked at and probably get a higher priority to get fixed.

If only one person would report it, Rare might think it doesn't happen enough to warrant a high priority and might get fixed next year or so.
If they get multiple reports of multiple people, they might look into it earlier.

Also, the more info they have gives them more to go on to locating the issue. Another person might have encountered this issue under different circumstances and if they fix theirs they might overlook also fixing yours.

  • It's an issue with borrowed ships as was previously mentioned, but also with all guilded crew members spending too long away from your ship. If your ship sinks and no guild members on the crew return to it, or everyone goes on a rowboat adventure for too long, extended tucking, etc the guild session will end.
