No one does anything with the burning blade anymore, it just sails around on servers and is sometimes annoying when it just attacks you when you accidentally get close to it or it randomly comes over to you. The only thing you can do on the burning blade is do skeleton camps or hunt player emissaries IF there are any on the server. To make it so people actually use the burning blade it needs to have more things to do while crewing it such as world events, quests, etc. I also think it should have a lower spawn rate to make it more sought after.
Burning Blade changes
@happykitten5269 I made around 1M gold selling the burning blade level 10, honestly one of the things that put me off from grabbing the burning blade was the fact that I didn't have the skeleton curse for the commendations so I decided to grind Servants of the flame at the same time I shortly found myself with a new player to turn pirate legend in less than a week so that was the only one we did.
Honestly, trying to destroy the burning blade with a sloop feels like a waste of time if not impossible also the skeleton respawns are a bit murky on the details.I still see alot of people doing the BB. I would like it to hunt players down on the server, so if you sail within a certain distance it attacks. The two changes I would make are
-
being able to do sail voyages on it (no diving) so you can collect loot along the way.
-
Next season put a reapers bounty and mark chest in it and having the vault down stair lock until a crew takes it over. This season the number of times I killed the BB to find no chest was quite high. A chest of forture should not be stealable off NPC. And yes I did some quick steals as well when I did jot have time to commit to a sink.

@burnbacon
I have literally had it attack my boat multiple times without even raising my anchor at the outpost lol it just wanders around and its trigger range is largeThe problem is that a "PvP" event is promoting you to do PvE, as in the puzzle-rooms that most people grew tired of after doing it a couple times.
It also counts as a world-event which I'm sure everyone already knows; which makes it so people that joins in on your server will most likely just dive, which leads to the server emptying out and you end up 2-3 ships left if even that. The whole idea was that the server would group up and take it down together but that really never happens, maybe on launch but these days, close to never. Imo, due to the horrible rewards. Gonna be even worse in S14 since the CoF is in FotD
The burning blade is actually one of the best designed events currently in game, but suffers from a community driven problem. The reason it feels boring and you have nothing to do is because usually no one comes to fight you. Stacking rituals wasn't supposed something you can do mindlessly without contest. Also the ship isn't really designed to hunt emissaries since it is extremely slow, but rather emissaries should hunt you. The SoT community nowadays plays the game like it is a PvE singleplayer game and not so much as an online multiplayer sandbox adventure. I remember a time when if you played reaper everyone and their mother came after you, people would fight over world events for hours, and had the BB existed back then i truly think it would have been such an awesome experience. As of now though most people avoid interactions at all costs, let alone trying to fight a giant flaming ship.
@gosva5434 the problem with the community is that half plays it as a PvE with PvP threats and the other half plays it as pure PvP what is loot?
One of the biggest issues now is alliances are so shaky that people can't trust them since it ends up with either being used to track your "allies" to steal their loot and I believe that people don't even know how alliances actually work anymore.
So you got a big ship that requires a galleon effort to sink or more and all you get is a single sword you're going to have to fight for among your "allies" no wonder it feels like a PvE event.@eastthread51441
I don't think anyone forced anyone to play on High Seas. If anything that is why Rare added Safer Seas for people that don't like the idea of a PvPvE sandbox (despite it being the main premise of the game) , to be able to experience at least a big part of what SoT has to offer. That being said Safer Seas could have all events included as long as they disable commendations for them and nerf loot significantly. That doesn't mean that Rare is at fault because people don't understand that it's Sea of THIEVES not FRIENDS.@astralenigma
You make a great point, however i can't help but feel that in the past this wouldn't be such a big problem. I remember when FotD was the hottest event if there was a galleon people would make temporary truce to get rid of the bigger target then start the whole betrayal thing to get the loot. Maybe a reworked alliance system would help with this problem...@gosva5434 said in Burning Blade changes:

I remember when FotD was the hottest event if there was a galleon people would make temporary truce to get rid of the bigger target then start the whole betrayal thing to get the loot. Maybe a reworked alliance system would help with this problem...Yeah that's another issue while killing a galleon stacking the FotD will still give you a ton of loot to split and that galleon is still a threat trying to get their loot back the burning blade could just be crewed by a solo sloop and after sinking that there's no good loot to grab and split and the solo sloop isn't a threat anymore so the alliance would be disbanded in that moment and if you're going to be wasting resources to sink a ship only to fight another battle why even make an alliance at all.
Only solution I see to fix this are twofold better explanation of alliance mechanics in-game and a more robust alliance mechanics that reduces or even detracts betrayal for example you can't abandon the alliance for the next hour or you would have to switch seas to do it that way even if someone is just trying to take all the loot you will still be paid for it.
Only downside from this would be if someone joined the alliance just to harass other players in the alliance then you would have to just leave the game.
My biggest problem with this fix is that it gives more headaches than it actually fixes since this would be a great tool for a troll to keep harassing you out of a server while it wouldn't help prevent people from sinking you for your loot or over the concern you might want theirs.
Heck, after some bad days of trying live and let live, I am already sinking anyone that is remotely close to me now before they get a chance to do the same.
