### **Proposal for Sea of Thieves: "Expanding Horizons"**

  • Proposal for Sea of Thieves: "Expanding Horizons"
To enhance the immersive experience of Sea of Thieves, we propose a significant expansion of the game map, introducing larger islands, new regions, and additional ships. This expansion aims to provide players with more diverse environments, richer exploration opportunities, and additional gameplay content. Map Expansion:

    1. Increase Overall Map Size: Expand the current boundaries to include new regions, offering more space for exploration and adventure.
      New Regions and Larger Islands:
    2. Emerald Isles:
    • Great Emerald Isle: A vast island featuring dense forests, hidden caves, and ancient ruins, providing extensive exploration opportunities.
    • Emerald Lagoon: A picturesque lagoon surrounded by lush greenery, teeming with wildlife and hidden treasures.
    • Pirate's Haven: A secluded cove ideal for pirate hideouts and secret stashes.
    1. Stormy Seas:
    • Thunderhead Isle: A large island frequently hit by storms, with challenging terrain and valuable rewards.
    • Tempest Island: Known for its unpredictable weather and treacherous cliffs, offering a unique navigational challenge.
    1. Golden Archipelago:
    • Golden Sands Isle: A sprawling island with golden beaches, rolling hills, and numerous hidden treasures.
    • Sunset Cove: A scenic cove with breathtaking sunsets and abundant resources.
      New Outposts:
    1. Trader's Port: A bustling outpost featuring new shops, quests, and trading opportunities.
    2. Explorer's Rest: An outpost designed for explorers to rest, resupply, and share their discoveries.
      New Ships:
    3. Merchant Frigate: A large ship designed for trading, with increased cargo capacity and defensive capabilities.
    4. Navigator's Cutter: A nimble and fast ship ideal for solo players or small crews, equipped with advanced navigation tools.
    5. Corsair's Brig: A medium-sized ship with enhanced firepower and armor, perfect for engaging in naval battles.
      New Challenges and Events:
    6. Colossal Sea Monster: Introduce a massive sea creature that roams the expanded map, providing a formidable challenge for players.
    7. Epic Treasure Hunts: New quests that lead players across multiple islands to uncover legendary treasures.
    8. Dynamic Weather Events: More varied and dynamic weather patterns that affect navigation and gameplay, enhancing the overall experience.
This proposal aims to enrich the Sea of Thieves universe by expanding its horizons, offering players a more diverse and engaging world to explore and conquer.

  • Just to everyone know, that's all the ideas me and my friends had in a couple of months and now we decided to put in Suggestions!!

  • Increase Overall Map Size

    Game can't (atm)

Pirate's Haven: A secluded cove ideal for pirate hideouts and secret stashes.

Got a few islands that can do this. Player creation

    New Ships:

    Balancing issues.

Corsair's Brig: A medium-sized ship with enhanced firepower and armor, perfect for engaging in naval battles.

Why would anyone pick the other ships when you have this ship.

Colossal Sea Monster: Introduce a massive sea creature that roams the expanded map, providing a formidable challenge for players.

Kraken and Meg use to be. But players complain enough and they nerf them down until it 3 hits and they are defeated/dead.

Epic Treasure Hunts: New quests that lead players across multiple islands to uncover legendary treasures.

Use to be a thing. Many voyages would have chapters, some would even go as far as 5 chapters with multiple islands to visit and 20 X's
But..again players dont like those long voyages. No time...

I would love to team take some of this ideas, i'm a Sea of Thieves lover and i'm also a Game Developer

mmhmm. You have 95% of the player base :D

  • @burnbacon everything you said is true, but you know just some crazy ideas xD, would be nice to see some of these things.

  • @ghosthlofc I wish! Rare can't manage the servers as they are now. This would cause the game and Rare to grind to a halt.

  • At the moment (and by moment I mean for 5 years now) the servers/game breaks after adding anything bigger than a chicken.
I love the ideas, but this spaghetti code is done. It is a good moment to rewrite the game, then add more stuff and call it Sea of Thieves 2.

  • The issue with changing the maplayout is that the servers can barely handle the map as it is. So an enlargement of the map goes out the window.

Ideas like removing some parts and adding new islands run into the issue that many many bildgerat commendations would become impossible if an island was to be removed.

But I have a solution for that. Safer seas could provide the option to sail on the old map, while open seas would be a totally new or at least partially new map! That would give a purpose for safer seas while also making high seas more interesting!
