Hour Glass Battle for Honor

  • HG battle for honor is way to often. Even though we are entering strictly to PVP, The battles for honor aren't as good as Reaper Vs Athena. Not only that, the HG wait times are not accurate. Just waited over 5 mins for a match. When the timer says 1-2 mins. The fact that we supposedly have 40 million+ pirates made in this game, the numbers don't add up to player retention. The same thing over and over is beginning to start to be boring. 100 lvls for the curse and 1000 for the gold when it is absolutely more toxic than Arena ever was. When you are only given an 8th for multiple losses per day against either cheaters OR people that shouldn't even be in your specific MMR bracket. This kind of gameplay is why nobody likes HG. Bring back arena. 90% of the community misses Arena and considered that to be more fun and productive.

90% of players did not play arena, this added to having to dedicate servers to this mode was the reason for the end.

Hourglass doesn't require dedicated servers, so no matter how big a failure it is, it's still viable to keep it, and it still proves to be a bigger success than Arena ever was.

  • Dedicated servers for safe seas. Could easily take that out and bring it back. I would love to know the stats on how many actually use it. Considering the population is extremely low.

  • @captbennyj the amount of dev work required to simply keep arena in a working state in comparison to the play time spent in the mode was not sustainable.

Arena is dead and gone, let it rest.

Also battle for honor gives the same amount of rep for a win then a regular battle does, the only difference its that it is a same faction battle.

The que times are always estimates and it is an average of que times in your stamp over the past 30 or 60 minutes i believe, but since its an estimate it can always be different

  • The battles for honor aren't as good as Reaper Vs Athena

What the difference. Two pirates wanting to pvp, that what you got.

100 lvls for the curse and 1000 for the gold when it is absolutely more toxic than Arena ever was

Why does what people wear matter? And trust me, it always been way more toxic in arena. At least with hourglass, players can’t simply make up their own rules and if you don’t follow them, (even your own crew) can’t betray you. It pvp for everyone.

  • @lleorb over 90% of the people who own the game, don't play the game.. So...

  • @callmebackdraft Flameheart came back. If enough people want something and the devs have the ability, nothing should be off the table.

  • @captbennyj

90% of the community misses Arena and considered that to be more fun and productive.

Considering 3% of all playtime was in Arena...Fake number is fake. Don't talk for other people.

  • @thamb0

@lleorb over 90% of the people who own the game, don't play the game.. So...

So with 3% of that 10% not having played arena, that's a reason not to go back.

  • 90% of the community misses Arena...this is the first time I've smiled today.

  • @thamb0 well you can keep trying to live the dream, it is clear that even when arena got buried it was behind on the development in adventure, to bring it back now over 2.5 years after it was sunset would basically mean they would have to build it back up from the ground up, which again would mean an amount of development time and effort akin to creating a new game from the ground up with the promise of only a VERY limited amount of all playtime being spent in it like previously stated less then 3% of all playtime at any given time would mean the development effort is not worth it.

They have been very clear about this in many different ways that this is not going to happen.

Catering to 3% of playtime vs 97% of playtime is not a worthwile development time and effort investment.

I dont know what flameheart coming back has to do with the discussion but okay.

  • @callmebackdraft Relax, it was a joke about things coming back from the dead. I'm sorry Arena hurt you that much.

  • @thamb0 on the contrary i loved arena, i was part of that small percentage that actually put in playtime there.

However i am also a realist, maybe its my experience as a software engineer maybe its something else, we have to look at the future and not the past see what the mistakes of the past can teach us. Is hourglass perfect, no but instead of screaming for arena to come back we should look at giving constructive feedback on how to make adventure and in extension hourglass better.

For instance, probably since release a big piece of feedback was changing ships mid session, to allow to migrate to a smaller or bigger crew. Now we have the burning blade which in effect does that and is a mechanic that technically can be used to do just that
