Sometimes the game is.... boring and repetitive...

  • Hello i love sea of thieves but... sometimes the game is very repetitive... is always plunder, fight, sell.... repeat.
There is very few things to do that lets you relax. Or do something different.... Its always fighting. plundering. selling...
Yes there is tall tales, playing music, getting drunk and fishing or hunting, but nothing to do that is fun, relaxing and new...

This comes from experience me and my friends used to play the game a lot but now only i still play it... and its always the same arguments... "is the same thing over and over and over again... no matter how many new dungeons or chests, skulls, wathever... they add is always the same thing over and over. Yes we can just roleplay or sail but you know is just always the same aswell. We always sail, we always play music and make jokes we need more ways to relax in the game or new things to do to let us enjoy the game"

And i kinda just feel the same lately its always grinding in the game... it lost that feeling of being new and amazing....
No matter how many chests you add... or new schemes to make us have more money after a while it gets boring and its always about the grind...

Making sea of thieves just being repetitve, only about the grinding and just starts getting boring...

Again i love this game and want the love i felt for this game being ignited again. I nowadays cant play it without becoming exausting...

One thing i also think would be awesome would be a new game mode or something like it that its a social gamemode, where you are on a location and can meet people imagine:

Can be on a tavern and is full of players there, where players meet other players and maybe meet some new friends and create a new crew! You wouldnt be able to kill players there but there could be a duel arena where players could either watch or battle. In the end everyone would be playing music and having fun in general. That can be a great start already. There could be also a minigames area with various minigames that you could play with other players thematic wise. Which would give maybe some gold and some skins.

As i said its only a idea which i give Rare full control to change or implement or not.
As long is well made besides being a good direction is also a very good thing to give us hope for in sea of thieves

But now being final here... The game is kinda repetitive and we all know it at this point we really need some content that is not grind based or focused...

Thank you for listening to me and i love the game all i wish is to see it grow!

    Ferry of the Damned

Imagine: Can be on a tavern and is full of players there, where players meet other players and maybe meet some new friends and create a new crew! You wouldnt be able to kill players there but there could be a duel arena where players could either watch or battle. In the end everyone would be playing music and having fun in general.

I find this quiet boring myself. It basically a chat room with avatars...nobody does anything you can't already do in the open world.

The game is kinda repetitive and we all know it at this point we really need some content that is not grind based or focused...

So make the game into something different then what it was advertised for.

  • This is coming from someone that only plays this game, and has played it an extreme amount, while still loving it through a lot of frustrations.

    Play a variety of games

Leave it when you get to the point where you aren't conducting yourself like you love it.

Play only when you want to, not as a habit or out of boredom, only when it feels right.

A lot of people play this game when they really shouldn't be. The game is full of people that are mad at the game before they are even logged in to a server. Burnt out on it but still loading in the server.

Variety, breaks when needed, quit once and when it's still a healthy situation or when it's clear it's no longer a healthy situation.

I've seen a lot of people quit long after they should have, come back when they shouldn't have, try to find what isn't there anymore for them. Lots of games out there, find the ones that don't have ya feeling like it isn't what it was. Quitting healthy and with commitment is always the best way to quit. Then it always remains something special to you.

  • I have played since Alpha (June 2017) and have never once 'grinded' (ground? grounded?) a single second in my entire playtime.

The second I gave up caring about gold/rep was the second I started enjoying myself more.

Don't make it a chore, do what you like to do. If that happens to be a game other than Sea of Thieves, then maybe that is what is needed. You can always come back and continue where you left off!

Play games because they are fun, otherwise, they become 'work'.

I know and i do have a variety of games but some of them are not like sot... in a way that makes me want to stop playing them. In my view sea of thieves can have a lot of potential right? Everyone knows that, but it seems sometimes its just wasting its potential. I love how Rare recently is adding new weapons for example, the captained ships but is all to grind away just want somethings to distract us from the grind. Just that. Is not about quitting the game because i didnt play the until off recently for almost 5 months. I played almost all the new content. You know games like tf2? that isnt updated but the game always seems alive and fun. Not repetitive at all? I dont know...
In resumed all im saying is that i want content that is not grind focused or based on. Just that sorry for rambling or yapping to much. Have fun in the seas

I ramble all the time, no apologies needed for that.

I get what you're saying. I've turned to being strongly against grinds just because there is not consistency to them.

The same group rushes, the same group gets them nerfed, and the people in the middle are left with a lot of inconsistent long term goals that aren't even fun to work on anymore. If the game is gonna keep going casual for rewards then it should have commendations that fit that.

The issue is that the game has a long history in creating "status" so everything is focused on status rather than fun, but the status is just the back and forth between cheesing and non-challenging.

Nobody with a lot of experience in this game, especially pvp experience, fears any "status" because nothing really means anything in SoT. Not the sails, not the titles, not the cosmetics in general.

Should stop doing the status thing and just focus on fun.

    Examples,

The horn is fun, making it irrelevant for a season with unnecessary bad rng was not fun.

BB is fun, a bunch of unfun comms made worse by early season cheating and then a counterproductive patch (blocking off the sell point for people) is not fun.

8 camp requirement when there are 6 camps around the map and then block off the turn in? What in the world?, lol. It just makes things less fun by trying to act like this game has significance left in grinding. It's definitely not serving people that play this game organically.

They make fun stuff originally but then focus too much on the status that only some on twitter take seriously anyway. Fun over status is the direction they should go, imo.

  • @gustwolf13 The PvE side of the game is deliberately made easy imo. The interesting stuff happens when you interact with other players (be it fighting, or making friends)

  • Then change tactics and stop playing the way everyone is be creative

  • @knurd9369

I know im not saying that, i like a little bit of pvp ^^

  • @acnologia1403

    i liked this answer ^^
im trying and i do. i just want more fun things to do that are not truly grinded focused on the future ^^
    just saying that

  • @wolfmanbush
    I know ^^
But there are somethings that rare also added that can be much more. For example they could improve the sitting in game.

Am i the only one that hates when some animations are just kinda glitched?
When you sit down and the arms dont properly reach your legs and stuff like that?
I also hate when you sit not being able to drink a beer while doing that or playing instruments while sitting! Maybe even fish while sitting on a dock amazing ^^
I wish there was also added in the game in the future.

Another thing to add more live to the pets you buy is having some emotes you can do with your pet! (Im not talking about the pet reactions to your emotes)

Imagine when holding your pet and holding z having some new types of emotes that you and your pet can do that would be pretty cute in my opinion.

In this game you really just gotta create your own.

I hunt megs and krakens and just generally experience the game in a very "whatever happens, happens, kind of way.

I'm not rewarded for it because I'm far beyond any sort of in game commendation.

Never feels like a grind because I specifically designed something in the way I enjoy playing, while still doing the "numbers going up" thing.

It's challenging enough for me to stay interested and I don't gotta do things I don't wanna do, like sink non-hostile boats or rob people that could put the stuff to better use than me.

That's really all you gotta do. Create a style of play for yourself specifically to where it doesn't feel like a grind but it still has some degree of numbers going up or things being accomplished.

Design something because you'll be way better at serving your preferences than Rare can ever be.

    All valid feedback

I'm a very "what are we gonna do while we are patient?" kind of person.

Filling that wait time with productive approaches and solutions (when possible) makes the wait time much much easier and it allows people to wait it out without getting burnt out.

We should never be waiting in this game, we should just be patiently productive for ourselves.

When they do something that worsens meg spawns I don't wait till they fix them or address them. I hunt for what I can hunt for. I adjust my goals based on what I can do with what exists.

When they make something more difficult I work around it.

When they add something cool I incorporate that into my sessions.

Never waiting, always focused on what I can do in the moment.

  • @look-behind-you

You spoke like a true poet!

I try to do that but i still feel that there could be way more stuff to do than right now

  • I understand what you're saying. Indeed, the game can be very boring if all you do is the same things over and over again. My crew and I like changing things up a lot. For example, we'll see what kind of shananigans we can get ourselves in to, and some of the experiences we've caused/experienced, have made for some incredibly enjoyable nights where we're laughing so hard we can barely contain ourselves. While there are goals to meet in the game, ultimately it's up to you to make it what it is, however enjoyable you want.

  • @europa4033

My crew or should i say friends all of them dont play the game anymore and refuse to... so i ve been playing alone mostly

  • @gustwolf13 I honestly think a small gamemode like that is a great idea, I really love the idea of having a small gulag you can 1v1 other players in. The possibilities for commendations and rewards you could get from it would be great, and it would be an easy way to practice PvP other than hourglass. Hourglass is sloppy, there's spawn camping, and you have to worry about supplies, and blunderbombs which don't really require skill to use. Sometimes I just want a fair 1v1 with another pirate without a full stack of pineapples in their inventory.
Anyway, having an arena like that would be fun, I wouldn't even care if there were no rewards for it, I just like to have fun. I hope something similar gets added.

  • @capt-vortexx

    You get my point,
Yes i also remember the arena we used to have had a lobby until it was shutdown, and just to not lose nostalgic locations like that the other game mode i talked about was a great idea to reuse it, also someone had said that already exist and is the ferry of the damned but what they dont have in mind is that normally people there are already in a journey like lvl 5 emissary or smh going on and so they will normally refused to go to your crew or are already with a crew full.

And yes there is the forum lfc and the discord server lfc but some people do not use that for various reasons.

So a gamemode for that would be very good to people that just want to roleplay or chat and look for a crew, some people say that wouldnt be as a good idea as such but i see a game called rec room that has something like that to you make friends i experienced it and thought there is a way that can actually work in sea of thieves somehow can work ^^

  • Commendations unlocked the game for me and my friends. We were only making gold at first. As everyone does I guess.
But understanding them, and having them as a goal pushed us to meet people, do silly things, go out of our confort zone.

It's over now for us (except for Shrouded, 1000 hourglass miles, and Impossible merchant foragers). But I'm waiting for the next commendations to roll up, and I sure wish I could do it all over again for the first time.

It took around 2500 hours. I'd say it's good value for a game this price x)
