The only issue with the Burning Blade event

  • I'm not talking about seeing the 10k+ ritual streaks.

Running as the crew is fine.

Crashing into Reaper's to lower is fine. (it's on you to stop them before they get there.)

The simplicity of the PvE controlled Blade difficulty is not an issue.

The effort to actually sink a player-crewed Blade isn't an issue.

The issue is actually getting to claim the event. Yesterday wasn't the first time I've spent 4 hours server hopping to try to find an unclaimed Blade to try and take. Whether having to sail from Ancient Spire to Smuggler's Bay for it to be claimed before I get there. Diving to an Ashen Wind Raid event and completing it (literally over 20 times yesterday) hoping the next event would spawn the Blade (it didn't, not once).

4 hours! Accomplished nothing. I just want to have a chance to play on the thing.

Rare, you've got to give players the choice to claim the Blade from other players or sink it for the Sword. When it gets sunk it should act the same way as if it was sunk while being PvE controlled. Allow the sinkers to take possession. Sent the former owners back to their ship and let the new crew vote to control it.

Why are you gate keeping the content?

I don't have issues sinking the player controlled Blade. I sank a galleon sized crew today as a solo with an assist from another solo slooper. The Ritual streak was 0. It's pointless to sink it without at least a 3 ritual streak. Yeah great, I got no progress on anything again. Another day without the opportunity to experience the new content again.

Vote to do an ashen winds event. Dive to it, complete the event and hope it pops near you. I’ve barely played this season and I’ve found that this was the best way for my crew to have a chance at it.

Currently have 2/10 of the 8 streaks using this method.

Did you not read my post? I did, 20 times yesterday. Never saw the Blade event after. It's not the first time we've dove 20 times and had no Blade after.

  • Less is more in server hopping.

People hop hop hop constantly and miss all sorts of things. Miss a lot of activity, events, a lot of opportunity.

I see everything because I invest in servers, nobody has to invest as long or as much as I do but a few servers a day with some investment will always be better than 20-30+ hops that end up with a person missing out on so much. 3-5 servers would probably be a decent amount to stick to. Enough to spread the wings a little bit but won't overdo it to the point of missing a lot of opportunity.

The only exceptions to that are the networkers that have a bunch of hoppers and server sharing etc. That's a lot more reach.

Also, play around the middle of the map so when one pops up it's a shorter distance to travel.

Merges happen pretty regularly in organic play so that's like a free hop.

I don't need to see everything. I've got 5000 hours in this game, 99% of all commendations, all achievements (minus the newest ones). I know what I'm looking for. I know how to find it in the most efficient way. If there's already a Blade being crewed, it's useless to me. I complete a diving raid to an Ashen Winds in less than 5 minutes, probably faster than you can even server hop. I don't appreciate your condescending reply to someone with more experience in the game than you.

What I posted is helpful and is why I've had no issue enjoying the new content. I wasn't talking down to you I was trying to help you.

  • @wolfmanbush Even if you don't want to invest in a server, these raid events are so easy now that you could spam fleets till you get one. Especially if you're not interested in raid loot and just want to spawn a BB.

Dive, clear the event, hope you get a BB, if not, rinse + repeat. Harpoon supps along the way. It's as middle-of-the-map as you can get.

I commented the same on another thread. I do think it would have made the event more fun if the BB sunk in two stages during PvP. Occupying crew hears the bell and returns to their ship after they die; attacking crew has the option to vote on the table.

I don't think they should be immediately sent back to their ship after the BB sinks (to allow for counter-play), but they shouldn't be allowed to vote again after the bell.

As long as they are still alive, they should have the option to try to tuck on the BB, or anchor it and keep the new crew busy until theirs returns.

Same as other events. You sail toward an event you wanna do, only to watch it vanish before you arrive.

Leaving you two choices. Try again or “steal/sink” the rewards
Most pirates. Actual pirates would pick the latter :)

  • @lefty24 Hey Pirate !

He wasn't being condescending, he was trying to be helpful using his personal experience. Ironically you're being condescending towards him by,

"I don't need to see everything. I've got 5000 hours in this game, 99% of all commendations, all achievements (minus the newest ones). I know what I'm looking for. I know how to find it in the most efficient way."

"I complete a diving raid to an Ashen Winds in less than 5 minutes, probably faster than you can even server hop. I don't appreciate your condescending reply to someone with more experience in the game than you."

Pushing others down and acting like you're better than everyone will make your points less important.

It's important to remember while on the forums, people have different opinions and experiences.

To your OP, they aren't gate keeping content at all, it's called balance. If you can reclaim it after every sink of a person's crew, no other events would happen leading to unbalance.

    It's only been 8 days...

    You mention,

"I know what I'm looking for. I know how to find it in the most efficient way."

It's new. People are going to want to do it as well ? Of course people might get it before you. It's first come, first serve or steal, you know ?

I agree with @WolfManbush, he said nothing wrong, just trying to make a suggestion for your "issue."

Everyday has an opportunity, whether you want to acknowledge it, that is your personal choice. Though server hopping really does cut you from possibilities you could've had if you waited / stayed in the server.

Which understandable you want to play the new content, so do things to be proactive, again do stuff more in the center of the map, do the skelly dives, steal it, or be patient.

    Safe Journeys.

  • @lefty24

I missed it. Sorry. That sucks. Totally has been working for me.

I’m not sure that’s the best method. I dived to a Sea Fort as an Athena and got the Burning Blade first try.

The Ashen Winds event is an actual World Event. The rotation of world events is completely random and unpredictable. You can’t force the event that you want. You are better diving for voyages or scuttling to new seas.

  • @CoffeeLight5545

Totally unofficial but I have a theory that rare actually "ramps" it up a little when a previous world event is complete. The thing about diving to a world event is that it gives the player almost immediate control over the current world event, and completing it will prompt, the server to move on to the next one. I think it's better than doing a regular voyage or other because you're basically saying "give me new world event plz" once you've completed the ashen winds.

  • @rare-jumbie

    Anything is possible I suppose.

I believe the only thing that is ramped up is the chance of encounter the Burning Blade because it’s a new event.

My only complaint with this event is the lack op players trying to take down a player controlled event. I can’t find any LFG for sinking the Burning Blade but I found hundreds trying to take it over. Players stand to make more money taking over the Burning Blade then sinking it.
