Burning Blade needs to give priority to crew who sink it

  • Absolutely love the new world event with the Burning Blade. Had a blast fighting twice against it both with skelly and player crews.

However, the first time, my crewmate and I managed to sink it from the skelly crew and wanted to sink it fully as we had Athena emissary up and wanted the loot, a galleon showed up.

The galleon had shot no cannons on the Burning Blade and yet as it was in it partially sunken state they managed to take control of the ship.

This seems a bit unfair as the crew that put the effort into sinking it and wanted it sunk fully had no opportunity to decide what to do with the ship.

What I feel should happen is that if only one crew sink the Burning Blade, they have priority over every other crew. This means they have a cooldown window of lets say around 5 minutes to decide what to do in that situation. Other crews cannot take control of the ship.

If there are multiple people fighting over the ship, then it becomes a free for all allowing anyone who shot the Burning Blade to take control.

This would make fighting the Burning Blade, especially for smaller crews fairer.

  • Snooze you lose.

  • Just being a solo nearby is such an advantage because other crews need a unanimous vote to claim it, if I just cannon out and yoink it you can't even steal it back.

  • @vaughnsilver said in Burning Blade needs to give priority to crew who sink it:

You mean tucking in the Burning Blade and steal it?

  • @dragotech123 You mean tucking in the Burning Blade and steal it?

Wondered if this was possible.. so i take that as a yes.. interesting

I believe even in the announcement video they said. “Best be quick”
And this falls under all world events. Players who either wait or come in at the last second and “finish” the job to steal everything from you.

  • @burnbacon You have some valid points.

What I'm trying to say is people shouldn't be forced into taking over the Burning Blade just because another crew comes along, making it very difficult for crews to fully sink it and take the blade.

I want people to be able to make the choice because it seems heavliy favoured towards reapers, which makes sense because it is a world event focused around reapers but there still should be the option for Athena players to fully sink it when another crew is nearby.

  • @crazycarman2003 maybe option to vote for sink it? Aftert its defeated.

  • @ghutar Yes exactly. Or if you are running an athena emissary it automatically sinks

  • I get your frustration. I really do. But it is the High Seas. The ship IS the loot!

    But honest question here....

All I've seen so far are teams taking over the ship. Once it goes into sink-or-swim mode, how hard is it to actually sink it? It seems close to being sunk at that time already.

Are we talking split second timing? The solution seems to guard the voting table to keep them from being able to vote then.
