Hello Rare Team and Fellow Pirates,
Before dismissing this proposal due to the Arena’s closure, I kindly ask you to consider the following points. Implementing these changes within the current PvP modes would maintain the same level of difficulty as the original achievements and significantly improve our gameplay experience.
Achievement hunters may not be the largest group among all Sea of Thieves players, but we are quite active and passionate about the game. It's disheartening that we cannot achieve 100% completion of all achievements, especially since the game is constantly updated. Given Rare’s history of changing achievement requirements (e.g., the captaincy changes and reducing milestones), we know there's a chance to update Arena's achievements too.
Currently, Arena achievements are marked as legacy, and some are still somewhat unlockable. For instance, the achievement for acquiring 100k silver in Arena has been glitched for many of us. However, after a patch in April 2024, players have unlocked this achievement, indicating that these achievements can still be altered and do work.
With the introduction of new PvP modes such as the Hourglass and the Siren Song, I propose altering the requirements for Arena legacy achievements to make them unlockable again. Here are my suggestions:
Revised Achievement Requirements:
Fortune and Glory -> Acquire 1,000,000 gold from selling Hourglass.
Pints Mean Prizes -> Sink the enemy ship while drunk.
Capture the Swag -> Win Hourglass contest in 5 minutes.
Nice Pirates Finish Last -> Sell a stolen grade 5 flag from the Hourglass.
Show Your Colors -> Battle in the Hourglass while representing every faction (emissary for Gold Hoarders, Athena, Reaper, etc.).
Rum 'n' Bass -> A group of four playing instruments during contest (same as it was, but done in Hourglass).
Legend of Silvered Waters -> Win 100 times in Hourglass as Pirate Legend.
Champion of Silvered Waters -> Win 100 times in Hourglass.
Sailor of Silvered Waters -> Complete 200 contests in Hourglass.
Master of the Arena -> Acquire the title for both Skeleton Curse and Ghost Curse (level 100 in both).
Glorious Sea Dog -> Buy the Ghost Curse and the Skeleton Curse.
Captain of Silvered Waters -> Complete 100 contests in Hourglass.
Hot Tub Crime Machine -> All crews are taking a swim outside of their ships.
Additionally, I propose unique rewards for players who completed the achievements during the Arena days, such as a new Sea Dogs-based set appropriate for each achievement. Here are some cosmetic and title ideas:

Capture the Swag -> Unique treasure chest skin or title "Quick Swagmaster".

Show Your Colors -> A set of multi-colored ship flags or title "Chameleon Captain".
Rum 'n' Bass -> Exclusive instrument skins or musical emotes.
Legend of Silvered Waters -> Unique figurehead or title "Legendary Silver".
Champion of Silvered Waters -> Distinct ship decorations or title "Arena Champion".
Sailor of Silvered Waters -> Special sail or hull design.
Master of the Arena -> Exclusive Sea Dogs costume or title "Arena Master".
Glorious Sea Dog -> Full Sea Dogs attire or title "Glorious Dog".
Captain of Silvered Waters -> Special capstan or title "Silver Captain".
Hot Tub Crime Machine -> Bath towel outfit or title "Tub Troublemaker".
I understand the previous decision to not change the legacy achievements due to the lack of a proper way to compensate players who had already completed these feats. However, with the new PvP modes, it’s simpler than ever to alter the requirements. This update would honor the effort of original players and offer a perfect framework to update the achievements.
Many players on TrueAchievements have stated they will not return to the game or even start it as long as there are discontinued achievements, preventing them from achieving 100% completion. This update could bring a part of your community back to the game!
I hope you take these suggestions into serious consideration and share them with your team. It would greatly enhance the player experience and ensure that dedicated players feel their efforts are recognized and rewarded.
