introducing company resource shops!

  • so as we all know, you can buy cosmetics and promotions from all trading companies:
but what if you could do other things with the trading Companys as well?

well, first we need to understand you already can with the merchants: you can buy supplies!

but what about the Other factions? What do they receive? Nothing. The only reason one might visit a company representative is to do the things I've already mentioned, which are quite infrequent. that all being said, I think I have a solution: Order Artifacts, Gold hoarder investments, and reaper's riches!

    Order artifacts
these items, in trusted to you by the OOS, will help you on any adventure; from skeleton slaying to running after runners!

    • Scepter of souls
an ancient scepter that is modified by the order to increase it's damage to undead enemies (phantoms, skeletons, even ghost ships!) but deal 0 damage to players. it acts just like a trident of dark tides!

    • Horn of the Damned
a Horn of the damned acts Just like a horn of fair winds, but it has a lower beginning charge and can not be sold. it looks like a horn of fair winds... but ghostly! The good news is that the Horn of the damned can be recharged with bounty skulls. more valuable skull = more charge.

    Gold hoarder loans

Ever in need of a bit more coin? Introducing Gold Hoarder Investments, a way for the Gold Hoarders to back your next adventure! Here's the concept: the Gold Hoarders provide, for example, 10,000 G. You utilize those funds to purchase supplies for your quest. If you're successful and gather a substantial haul, the Gold Hoarders will claim a share of your profits until you exit the game. Should you decide to terminate your agreement with the Gold Hoarders, you just repay them 150% of the initial amount they invested in you.

    Reaper's Riches

For 10,000 gold, you can purchase a box brimming with the Reaper's riches: a golden-sealed, reskinned Box of Wondrous Secrets. The longer you possess this treasure-filled box, the more treasure it contains, up to a maximum of 50,000 gold. Crews can only purchase one per session. However, there are several drawbacks to retaining this treasure-laden box:

    1. The box's location is displayed on the map table for all other crews, and a beacon marks its position.
    2. The enchanted treasure weighs down your ship, progressively slowing it the longer you keep it. (Take that, runners!)
    3. The box can only be sold to the Reapers.

and for the other factions?... I honestly don't know. any ideas?

  • Sadly Gold Hoarders are the definition of greed. Them investing into someone besides themselves is kind of out of character.

  • @BurnBacon
It appears you may have overlooked that the Gold Hoarders actually made investments in both the Merchant Alliance and the Order of Souls, according to the lore.

  • Gold Hoarder Loans
It's possible I've misunderstood this idea but it sounds like with this, you run the risk of going into negative money/ debt with the goldhoarders, as if you had enough money to repay them 150% anyway, what would be your reason for taking out the loan? I feel like this kind of in game capitalism could get very complicated very quickly.

    Reaper's Riches
I really like this idea. Hopefully it won't count as derailing the thread if I say it's similar to one I suggested a couple of days ago in my "New Voyage Ideas" post. I do think it would require/ benefit from a couple of additions though:

    1. The marker on the map, and the beacon should change colour depending on the value of the box. This way players can decide whether it's worth their time to hunt you down for it.
    2. The value of the box should not increase while you're within a certain range of Reaper's hideout. Otherwise you could just park up next to Reaper's Hideout, wait for as long as possible, then sell as soon as you see another ship on the horizon.
    3. There should be some other change/ additional rule that will ensure the box can always be won from you by besting you in naval combat (i.e. by sinking your ship). It shouldn't be possible to park up on an island, hold the box there and defend it using only player to player combat skills, then if someone sinks your (empty) ship, send one of your crewmates to mermaid over and bring your ship back so you can carry on. Maybe the value of the box increases with every mile it travels on a moving ship, rather than being dependent on time?

The Gold Hoarders will take a portion of your profits until you exit the game. This serves as an alternative method to cancel your contract, but it results in the loss of any loot you may have acquired. (lore-wise the gold hoarders repo it lol)

    1. I disagree with Order of Souls. Those are no Supplies, but Treasures, which ye can obtain from Different World Events, which can be introduced in the Future.
    2. Gold Hoarders are Greedy Fraction. Them Giving ye Gold? Never! What can 'Em do instead? Them can sell Treasure Chest (Containers) to ye, so ye can stash up to III little trinkets inside.
    3. Aye, thats the way.
