Funny launching or crude launching banable?

  • Not a fan of players using this exploit and other players teaching this tactic to new sailors to gain an edge over others whether in open high seas or HG. There has been a serious up tick in this boarding technique. As a solo slooper it is hard to defend if you don't hear your opponent catch the ladder. It has been out of hand since the start of June 2024. I believe this should be given a warning or even a banable offense as it is in my opinion an immoral gesture of gameplay as a competitive player.

  • I'd you don't hear a player catch your ladder that's silent boarding if they dive out of the water that's a crud launch 2 completely separate bugs silent boarding is the act of spamming left trigger or right click with a cannon ball/food/trowable in your hand you need to know exactly what it is you are complaining about before you even start complaining! But I digress, rare have previously said its a bug within the game therefore its not cheating and its NOT bannable if you can't defend against someone who needs to exploit a bug..... that's a skill issue..... JS

  • Also this is a silly pirate game not a competitive fps shooter go play valorant or siege

  • I think any exploit used to gain an advantage should lead to a temp ban.

But it needs to be proven that they are doing it repeatedly and with intent to cheat.

This means one-offs shouldn't be punished, as we all know these kinds of exploits are possible to do accidentally from time to time. If someone has dozens of reports in a short amount of time (from accounts confirmed on their recent players list, and with proof attached) then that's an obvious case that they know what they're doing and it should be a yellowbeard, in my opinion, increasingly long each time they get one.

I think the worst thing Rare could say on this is that it's not bannable behaviour, that only gives these players a green light to exploit the game's bugs to the fullest. I think saying it could lead to a yellowbeard is a better approach.

I agree that the launching exploits we’ve been seeing should result in some kind of reprimand. Not saying they should be perma-banned, but maybe temporarily. A lot of people have been trying to justify the use of these exploits, one poster on the forum even created a thread advocating for making them permanent (using sword lunge as his justification).

How are people cool with this? I don’t really get it. Maybe we should be able to steer our cannonballs in the air as well? I know a lot of people could certainly use a steering option for chain shots. It’s an obvious exploit used to gain an advantage over others, most often in PvP.

A guild mate of mine shared a video in our discord of someone dolphin diving onto her boat during an HG match. We’ve all seen this by this point… She said that she reported the player and they were banned. Perhaps they had other blemishes on their account and this was just the one that did then in. Dunno, but it stands to reason that if you submit video evidence of someone exploiting to gain an advantage in PvP that they’d get a ding of some kind against their account.

I’ve had videos of people using the map and fishing pole exploit but I was reluctant to report them because I wasn’t sure if I’d be wasting my time. A clear stance from Rare on specific exploits would be nice, but at the same time I recognize that they don’t want to bring attention to an exploits existence.

  • If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. As this is a matter for Support and not the Forums, I'll be dropping anchor here.
