I'm a newbie and I only play with my friend on a weekend as his crew mate (he's the captain). I'm not very good at it or any games really that aren't pointless and click (my favourite). I like to jump in a game while he's playing to help on his ship against enemies. Which we just found out how to do thanks to your amazing forum.
However, I'm struggling with melea and get flustered in swordfight with skeletons or anything in that case. I've played games before where I can play as third person. Controlling my character on screen, and I much prefer it like that.
Is there any way to play my pirate as a character to control?
I think girls would play more often if they can do it third person while boys like it melea.
Please tell me this is allowed and how to add it. Thanks for this helpful forum.

What does gender have to do with this??
Besides, SoT built around that “you” are the pirate. Hence why not third person. And walking below deck, into small caves or rooms, the camera is gonna be very tricky to adjust to looking above.
That and third person viewing makes looking around much easier to spot incoming threats, like from behind or beside your ship.I think girls would play more often if they can do it third person while boys like it melea.
Gender has nothing to do with play styles so let’s not make assumptions about people and how they enjoy the game.
Regarding Rare putting this in, it’s very unlikely considering: the entire game is built for 1st person perspective with us travelling around in our ship, the minimal UI, and the fact we already go into 3rd person when we emote.

I've NEVER heard someone claim women enjoy third-person games more than first-person game, and vice-versa for men. I can't understand the thought behind this idea.
