A veteran using a glitch or hack?

  • Hello, I'm pretty much a new Ps5 player on SoT so please bear with me, I'm not sure if I'm too noob to understand or if my question is dumb-
So I was chilling in solo on my ship tonight until I reached Barnacle cay.
Landing I realize at the other side of the island there was.. another players ship already.
I prepared a fruit in hand as a peace offering in case they saw me, but I couldnt find them anywhere for.. a good few minutes. I was confused and thought that maybe they were afk or something so I ignored it until they used the chat and greeted me.
I thought they probably saw me from somewhere I couldn't spot them , saw me with the fruit in hand and were careful to approach so used the chat instead.
Luckily they were friendly and probably noticed I was a new player as we even tried to communicate and they flexed all their emotes and good skins.

Afterawhile they jumped around ,and shoot themselves continuously through the cannon until suddenly they..disappeared.
I waited for a few, looking for them quite confused but came to the conclusion that it was late so they left or they simply got bored and logged off because ,even their ancored ship was no where to be seen.
So I came down and did my things searched and explored the island, but when I came back they were back on my ship dancing and doing emotes, but once I reached the spot they were doing all that they were nowhere to be seen again.
It went like that for a few times, them "hiding" literally disappearing as I look for them everywhere on my ship ,then they decide to appear again when I get off the island, emoting. I decide to leave for good to an avampost and deliver the treasures when they pulled a what I think it was prank by setting my ship on fire last time they disappeared on me and moved my chest on another spot, making me think for a second that they left taking it away.
I leave to the nearest avampost thinking they left for good but when I stop the ship they appeared again, it felt like they went visible and invisible on command and it felt weird, they kept doing it until I logged off.
    What do you guys think?
I looked for them well around and inside my ship but everytime they would just dosappear out of nowhere and re-appear on command where they wanted to, I was confused and now that I think about it, they're ship disappeared right as they used the chat for the first time and probably noticed me. So were they able to make their ship and themselves invisible? Or was it a glitch?

I’d guess that they used some emotes to “tuck” on your ship. Some of the emotes make for good hiding, and in fact tucking isn’t uncommon in SoT. It sounds like they were just having some fun with you.

If you ever think there’s a tucker on your boat, and you’d like to find them, one option is to run around your ship swinging your sword at everything. This can get a bit tedious on a large ship, but can be quickly done on a sloop. If you hit them you’ll get a hit marker and they’ll untuck.

Tucking is an interesting part of SoT that you’ll learn more about as you go. Go to YouTube and search sea of thieves tucking for a good time.

  • I look at it as a very experienced player similar to how I did as a very inexperienced player.

    1. Benefit of the doubt
    2. Keep drama to a minimum
    3. Move on

I consider all sus accusations to be unnecessary drama. They are not based in fact and they serve no purpose other than drama. So I don't accuse in "sus" form. I think it's damaging and it's just draining to be around in general.

I have no idea what people are and aren't doing during a random encounter in a game so they get benefit of the doubt. I don't need to understand every random odd thing that happens. Nobody owes me an explanation and I'm not doing detective work just because something seemed odd during a random encounter.

I believe maintenance is vital to not only longevity but healthy and quality longevity. Maintenance during an experience like this is not looking for trouble, not looking to blame or make excuses, not looking to accuse. A random encounter happens and then it's over. Nothing there to worry about as far as gameplay goes imo.

It's real easy to fall into a negative cycle when regularly approaching things in an accusatory and cynical way.

If you really want to have fun here long term you will need to maintain it.

Hold on the the fun and rewarding experiences and just let the rest drift away.

  • Sea of thieves has "hide" emotes. Types of emotes (some free—while others can be bought in the emporium) where they can do things like lay on the floor or turn into a barrel or blend into the environment and it hides their name from you. You can find them by using weapons or throwing blunder bombs and getting a hitmarker would damage and reveal them.
