Kraken Spawning

  • Hello, I am here in regards to the Kraken, and some general questions I have about encountering one, as there seems to be very little information online.

Is the Kraken only able to spawn if there are no current world events active?

Does the Reapers Chest and Reapers Bounty count as a world event?

Does the Skull of Siren song count as a world event?

Is there any way to lure, or spawn in a Kraken?

Could you provide a list of best possible conditions for finding a Kraken?

I would really appreciate this help, as I'm working towards the Legendary Kraken Hunter commendation, and I would like to have a general idea on how to make some progress on this, rather than have to rely on the randomness I've been hearing about.

  • @mk2d21 The Kraken will only spawn on a ship in open water between world events. The Reaper Chests/Bounties are not world events, nor are the player activated ones like Siren Skull or Fort of the Damned. The only way to increase your chances of being attacked by one is to be outside of the range of any island when a world event ends, however the more ships that are in open waters on your server reduces your chances since they will also be valid targets for a spawn.

  • It's a fine goal but I wouldn't make it the primary objective.

You can hunt a meg, there is a window of time where you will get one if you do it right but the kraken is far more luck based.

Experience used to matter more in a kraken hunt before diving. Now there is so much joining and leaving in areas that qualify for a kraken spawn it's more luck than experience now.

You'll get discouraged by just hunting a kraken in the current environment. I'd set another goal, or a few, as the main objective(s) and then work kraken vanquishing into that.

My primary is megs then skelly ships then miscellaneous activity like pvp and voyaging. Then I just keep an eye on things for a kraken.

The most important thing in any hunt is enjoying the hunt. That's where success is found, by enjoying it. Do what you enjoy and then work in the rest, then outcome will work itself out.

Hunting a lot leads to results, enjoying the process is what allows the longevity. Have fun and just keep your eyes on the environment for the right moment to show up, imo. It's how I approach it.
