What's up with the long load times on the PC Xbox App?

  • I'm a longtime Xbox Series X user, but my better half just bought the game to play on her PC. She bought it and runs it through the Xbox app, which I've heard countless people complain about during the years I've played the game with friends on mixed platforms—so maybe that's it. But in case it isn't, just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Her game takes ages to load, I'm often just sitting there with the ship fully stocked, the entire outpost already wiped clean, while she's still waiting on the loading screens. Resetting the app sometimes fixes it, but I've seen her run into weird problems like her pirate not loading into the main menu, or even the Pirate Lord being missing in the Maiden Voyage. Once we get the thing working, it works fine the entire time. No problems whatsoever. But it seems to be a consistent issue at the start three out of four times.

Sounds like a PC issue, the Xbox App has nothing to do with the game except the invites/friendlist. If you play on PC it runs it through Microsoft App/Store even if you are on Steam and I rarely have issues if ever with crazy long loading times.

Tried installing the game on a different drive and see if that changes anything at all?

This was my initial thought as well. Sounds like it may not be installed on an SSD perhaps. I'll look into what she has because it's a second hand computer she got from a friend.

Had issues on my old PC when I had it on a HDD, swapping to a SSD helps a lot. Then check drivers and what not, the obvious things too. Good luck!
