2nd Monkey Island Tall Tale Bug

Hello everyone, I just wanted to report a bug I have been having. I been following the Rare guide to a T and I still can't get passed the part where you need to pick up the Quill off the desk downstairs. I gathered all the other necessary items to complete this part of the tall tale. The paper I need to get forged and also the ink well from the chest after you steal the key from the sleeping man. I tried 5 times already, and its always at that part that I cannot get passed. The Quill has no action key available when approached. Does anyone else have a similar issue or know how to resolve it?
