[Better] Friendly Fire

  • Friendly fire would only be able to be activated in safer seas, so that crewmates just wanting to practice hand to hand combat would not clog up high seas servers, and every pirate on the ship would have to vote to accept to allow friendly fire, like the scuttling mechanic where everyone would have to accept. Commendations requiring kills would be locked out in order not too make FF an exploit. Since Safer Seas is designed for new players to get used to the game's mechanics, why not add friendly fire aswell. A big argument that players use for safer seas players is that they will never get enough experience with Pirate VS Pirate combat in safer seas, which would basically handicap them if they were to switch to High Seas. Sure, Naval combat can be picked up from Fleets and Ghost ships, but Phantoms and Skeletons serve no basis as to how real players would act in a fight, and since friendly fire will only be limited to Safer Seas, it wont hurt the community as there would be no "trolling", since it would just be friends playing together

  • Rare said SS isn't getting any mode-specific content, and as this is technically PvP, it makes more sense to exist in HS anyway.

The best version of this idea I've seen suggested before is a toggleable option (off by default) to receive friendly fire damage. One that doesn't require crew-voting. It should only effect the individual enabling it, and should have no cooldown before disabling it.

    This makes it entirely opt-in.

  • Fighting Friends vs Fighting random players are two different encounters.

Your prepared for for your friends, but a random player..you never know what they can do.

  • @wcrespo no special rules for Safer Seas. If you want player vs player experience for combat, play High Seas.
