Kraken/Megalodon MIA?

  • So Two points of feedback here:

    1. Since this latest update, I have not seen even a hint of the Kraken anywhere. World events constantly seem to be active and when one finishes, it seems like another takes its place within a minute. I feel like either the World event cooldown needs to be longer or the Kraken needs to be able to spawn at potentially any time, not just when world events are not active.

    2. Also since the latest update I have not seen the Megalodon hardly at all. I feel like the spawn rate for the Megalodon before the update was just fine. Please consider upping the spawn rate for the Megalodon again Rare!

Also on this note, I should say that I haven’t seen the Megalodon attack once in the past month or so at least. I would like it to start attacking again. As it is now, it’s just swimming around my boat taking cannon shots until it dies. There is no threat of attack at all…

  • Krakens are probably a bit more spread out because of all the diving/event stuff

Megs are about the same for spawn rate they are just 100% passive

Megs never really changed spawn rate even though people think they did, they stayed the 4ish-8 in game days spawns, the only thing that changed is that sometimes that time carries over with dives/merges/getting sunk

that's really all that ever changed about megs in this season around encounters.

The most recent nerf is built around getting sunk by a meg which doesn't even happen with the current bugs.

The only exception is that it'll probably trigger the nerf if someone gets sunk while an active meg is around even though it doesn't attack but those scenarios are more rare than they used to be.

Not many (other than new players) are going to be sinking to bugged megs and skelly ships unless there is pvp involved

  • I think they need to add in a Kraken World event. A tentacle shows up in the sky and an NPC ship full of loot spawns in the middle of a pool of Kraken ink. Ships show up to save it, and the ink spreads and tentacles attack the other ships.

  • I've seen the kraken a few times so it's still definitely there and plenty of megs, the rng must just be favouring your or not favouring you if you want them 😂 I remember when I first started playing I heard there was a kraken but never saw it, must of been over 100 hours in before it spawned on me, It was a moment to remember this random kraken encounter it really did feel like an epic adventure, so imo they should leave the kraken as it is, for new players to experience in the same way

1 meg every 4-8 in game days is a long time. I feel it should definitely have a higher spawn rate than that if that is the case, but that’s just me. So many commendations surround the Megalodon and Kraken, so I would love to see them appear just a bit more frequently than they do.

That being said, I still haven’t seen the Megalodon attack when I have seen it over the past month, so that definitely needs to be fixed. It’s just cannon fodder right now.

Been one of the things I've talked about for years.

    Uphill battle in SoT.

People in feedback areas often talk about wanting more and more content and then they try to get everything nerfed down to insignificance or non-existent if it sinks them or is around when they sink or interferes with pvp.

I'm surprised it's even still around as a hunt. I figured they would have just turned it all into a voyage by now. Maybe broken meg is their compromise.

It's why I still do it, I'd rather participate in the mess of what exists for megs than get involved in an sort of contrived meg/kraken/monster kill scenario.

If it's not a hunt then I don't have any interest in it.

Imo this game had some of the best hunting design out of any video game that I've ever heard of. The shrouded ghost and box of secrets at their peak was as close to a real adventure hunt as gaming has ever seen imo.

Hunting games have nothing on what SoT hunting was in its prime. Especially as a game that includes pvp and interference. It was something special for a while.

Years of a hunt with a chance of never finding it? Sign me up.

I feel like people who complain about PvE world events and even sinking to them just need to work on their skills or go to Safer Seas instead of complaining about it if they are also the ones that are requesting higher spawn rates as well.

Now, I do think there should be a limit or at least a rarity in multiple events spawning on you at the same time, but if it does happen, the events should also target each other as well (I.e skeleton ship attacking a Meg and vice-versa, which they do.)

It should make for a workable challenge, not an impossible no-way-out scenario.

At the very least, I do agree that if they are going to put many commendations around them, there should be a voyage for them, but that’s just me.

  • I have been seeing Megs... I won't say more frequently, but I am seeing them in what I would think feels normal. (Though I keep on getting Skeleton Shipped and then immediately Megged quite a bit, which hasn't happened much to me since season 2).

However, the Megs I have seen feel like they are following the proper rarity, with Hungering one appearing more frequently than last season (I still need 18 more Hungering One kills to get the top Captaincy Trophy.)

I have seen the Kraken quite a bit lately. But yeah it does feel a bit rarer since it only happened when a world event isn't.
