Character customazation

  • I would like a real character customization option in the game. To choose your face, body type, eyes, scars , nose , face , rogue or hero etc etc.

The whole game is about cosmetics and we would love to make our own pirate exactly how we want it.
I understand the reason for the generator, but there might be some options to keep that intact for the people who only want to play and don’t care about it.

Also the hairdye would be perfect if there was an option to dye the hair and beard separately from eachother as sometimes with two colors the hair looks cool but the beard and eyebrows is fully covered with a strange color which messes up the look.

Hope you will do this as many people are asking for it and will make the game better l.

  • @angularcasper Мне бы хотелось много чего...

  • I don't think full character creation is the route to go as they chose the RPG to stop characters being overly pretty and lots copy and paste characters like jack sparrow. But I think maybe adding a couple filters wouldn't hurt

  • So we will see the same type of character.

Dark skin, dark eyes, skinny body, short status. Dark clothing. Perfect tucker body type. No thanks.

People can do that now and characters aren't all that look.

The game is different than it used to be, people approach everything differently now, more based on the story they are telling than some sort of gameplay strategy.

People use costumes including jack sparrow costumes lol

With Captaincy people are telling their character's story. It would be more consistent to allow people to include appearance that they find immersive.

Imo at this point in the game it should be up to people to make those decisions. Random served the game well till Captaincy and now the game is different.

  • @wolfmanbush I'm not completely against the idea because I love customisation and character creators, but I do like how sea of thieves has this feeling that every character is completely different and even when you do find a pirate you like there's still something off about them but it just makes them fit in to the world better. If they added character creator you just know you'd end up with an army of characters that were overly pretty and looked samey. I quite enjoy seeing all these grizzled up pirates roaming around that actually don't look out of place in the world

I used to support the random system, I think there are positive things about it.

The thing about Captaincy is that it's not my story to tell or to oppose. Lots of Captained ships have the same name. That's their story to tell. It should be their appearance to choose at that point.

My preferences aren't obligations for others.

Whether something is or isn't interesting to me doesn't justify opposing the freedom of immersive storytelling. Once the environment shows that it supports individuality then it really doesn't matter what I think about how people approach their opportunity, it only matters that they have the opportunity to express how they see fit, as long as it isn't used maliciously.

I don't think it's about preferences it's more about the game's personality and world building. There's not another game like this with a personality like sea of thieves. The players in the game are a part of this games personality and world building and the main part of the content, so imo being able to adjust every detail of your pirate isn't the way to go. But if people want to have more control over how they're pirates look I do think there are things that could be implemented without sacrificing part of the games personality.

  • @rotten-rocko I totally agree with this, that is what I like to! I never like to make my character pretty, but I do love if I could change some more aspects of the face like the nose or mouth.

I hope we can just adjust some more aspects of the face after we choose our charachter

Rare: we created the IPG so that everyone would look different.
Rare: also, here are some costumes that make everyone look the same.

The game's personality and world has evolved over time, and nothing about the game's current personality screams, "you must look a certain way." So I too feel character-creation is more in line with the individuality it promotes.

This would just be QoL for folks who want their pirate to look a certain way, which really doesn't have an impact on the game or other players, as long as (as you said) it's not used maliciously.

  • Some real generic filters would improve it 1000%

Even just being able to filter out a specific sex would be amazing, everything else can still be random but at least you wouldn't get 5 slots taken by a gender you're not gonna use on every roll

  • Not happening. I think they'd rather you buy cosmetic looks. If you want to look like Jack Sparrow it's in the store fyi.

  • @angularcasper, and if the servers could handle it, more areas to customize or add boat cosmetics/trinkets!

  • @robap75 lol

  • I say it again and again, this random choice system is extremely outdated, especially for a game focused on cosmetics, we should all have the right to customize our character
