when in the storm we should be able to lock the wheel and trolls

  • When soloing in the game when I'm in the storm and I get a hole in the boat and I try to fix it I either lose my way or run in to a enemy. Please put some kind of lock on the wheel.

Also if you are the captain on the boat you shouldn't be able to be locked in the brig that needs to stop. Tired of trolls that don't like brigs coming into my game locking me in the bring and sailing off the map its really getting old.

  • If people in your crew are just flat out griefing you then it would be reasonable to report that if you wanted to.

that nonsense on brigs is a huge part of a why open crew gets a bad rap.

that specific type of griefing is important to nip in the bud before it escalates into the more toxic outcomes that occur with that kind of power misuse. Mainly people being targeted for their voice and all the inappropriateness that goes along with that.

  • Peg loops to hold the wheel in place were a real thing used to maintain a steady course anytime the wheel didnt need someone on duty.
Ironically, the one time you would WANT someone to stay on the wheel was during a storm in order to counter-steer against where the storm was pushing the ship despite the rudder.

The historical accuracy would require the ship to be turned by the storm regardless of wheel position, and the compass to work properly in order to give you a reference point for navigating. While were on the subject, the compass going haywire in a storm is silly. thats exactly when a compass is most needed because you CANT afford to step away from the wheel to check your map every thirty seconds.

  • Or drop anchor and wait it out?

It really isn’t that hard to sail past or through a storm anymore as a solo. It use to be crazy and harsh

  • Avoid Open Crew or play it if you enjoy not having fun.

  • Yeah! Lock the wheel with a plank: then break it to steer the wheel again, easy peasy.
