Best fix for all of the crashing I have found

  • Since the update on Thursday my game has been crashing to desktop every 10 to 15 minutes. I even followed support and went through a second full reinstall resetting everything. Did not help at all. So I discovered a temporary fix that 100% resolves all of the crashing issues. Load the game as normal. At the title screen, press the windows key and open up task manager. Locate easy anti cheat, Right click and end task. Is this allowed? I have no intention to cheat nor have I ever. I would just like to play the game, especially with the new event coming next week.

  • This also worked for two of my friends. I would love clarification on if this is OK to do temporarily

  • Definitely Need clarification,i read about peoples telling this trick 7 years ago,and some claim they cannot be banned while using cheats.

Hope we Will have clarification from rare as soon as possible.

  • I would say probably dont end easy anti cheat in task manager, that probably could get you in some trouble, but the fact that it can so easily be disabled and is the cause for crashing is bringing up a lot of questions.

  • Another observation. Had main game on my laptop through Microsoft Store. Had Insiders through Steam. On my main machine uninstalling MS Store version and loading Steam version resolved crashes. Today crashed on my laptop in Insiders, which is Steam. So I uninstalled the MS Store main game. Then Insiders would not load in Steam saying AntiCheat was missing. So that MS Store version of AntiCheat is my theory right now, and Steam version is fine. Will see later now that I have reloaded Steam Insiders. Will see if I have any more crashes.

  • Are you Steam or MS Store?

  • @x-sambora-x MS store on PC WIN 10

  • @art-vandelay516 I was MS Store Win11 and moved to Steam last night. 5 hours no crash. Heard it was MS Store version. Some testing on another box indicates even if using Steam (Insiders) while having main game from MS Store can still crash, though. So I did app reset then uninstall to make sure I’m clear.

  • @x-sambora-x After gathering information most of the day today It's fairly clear problems that are causing the crash to desktop. The Microsoft store version of the game Easy anti cheat is causing lots of people problems. Steam seems to have less problems overall

  • My friend on windows was having this issue. I had been having this issue for a solid month on Xbox console and one of the suggestions was to disable guild invites from the menu. He tried that on his PC and now he hasn’t been having crashes today. His crashes were mostly beard errors randomly or the game just closing itself. He couldn’t stay connected for more than 15 minutes at a time.

Update edit: this did not fix it long term, but lessened how often overall.

  • It's my understanding that closing EAC in task manager doesn't circumvent it, remains running. I'm no expert especially since out of gaming and security for a long time, some clarification would be good.

  • and the award for most 90's workaround in 2024 goes to...

wild it even allows it lol

  • @wolfmanbush glad it is helping people

  • I'm going to play grounded instead, it's got less bugs in it, despite being a game about killing bugs.
