Normaly in every game that use easy anti cheat for example fortnite in the easy anti cheat folder there is a file called easyanticheatsetup but for sea of thives there isnt i think that its the problem in cant fix this problem to btw
EAC - Unknown File Version (SoTGame.exe)
@glinom3s I think this is one step further. After deleting the Cetificates i can launch it too but then an error that EAC has problems with the file integrity and the application has to quit.
After digging a bit around i maybe found the solution but not solutable through us.
@Rare-Ayden There seems to be a problem with the Certificate from EAC about SoT. The File base.cer (the certificate itself) has the wrong product id inside.
Instead of 0367a3a8ea344f08851d76facf6f66d3 is 0367a3a8ea344f08851d76facf6f66d30 (tailing zero). Unfortunaly deleting the zero will make the certificate invalid and EAC is kicking me out with an integrity error. Should be easy to fix if you deliver a new certification. Please, Thx... Just DO it! :)

Everyone tweet this at the devs
@clothik I was getting the same error, even with no 0 at the end. Upon following the Steam - Launch Error: EAC guide on the support page, i no longer get the "Unknown File Version" error... but the game wont launch at all.
@manonico1903 That sounds weird, because the product id witht he 3 at the end is the correct one. i really don't know why or better i don't wanna know, why you had an other product id ^_^
@demogrim Strange. I compared 3 steam versions with the Microsoft Store one and everyone has the tailing 0 inside the cert. Seems that the problem not only depends on the certificate, OR... the one who made the cert was a little bit lazy and copied the cert over from steam to the MSS one :D Anyway... we have to wait what Rare is doing. Hope they'll fix it soon.

Hey guys,
The soluce I have found for similar problem is very simple :
[Mod edit - do not attempt this solution!]
I hope it helps !
See you on the seas,
FranckDon't do this, it doesn't fix the actual issue.
@darkman1984 im also getting those errors. I can start the game and play for like 10 or luckily 30mins before my game crashes and then im getting the message to check for any corrupted files. That is happening since the new Easy-Anti-Cheat update i deinstalled and installed the game 3 times,i also clicked on the repair buttons from the xbox app but sadly nothing is working ….
It's very sad tbh because I really would enjoy to play this game in the last couple of days but they don't let me to do this. I found this bug like a week ago with only 50 other views on this post. now there are about 4k views and they don't even appear to helping... wrote the support twice, one time they couldn't help me and second one I didn't even get an answer yet. Feeling helpless and ignored..
Imgur file of the Player Support's reply
Unfortunately after spending 5 days trying to solve the issue and messaging back and forth with the Player support this is the answer they gave me. I think @DaRkMaN1984 did this or something similar with no results. I'm afraid it's beyond our control to anything about this issue and I wouldn't be sure that their suggestion would help either. If you guys have any ideas or have tried this please let us know.
PS: I highly doubt they are checking this forum post based on their replies. And we probably won't get an update today so we won't have the chance to play the anniversary sadly. :(
@fabifm2000 Don't format your PC. I tried the last week 2x Windows 11 and 2x Windows 10 (ended up in Windows 10 again ^^) and after a freshly new installed OS i still get the error on both systems. So this solution shouldn't lead into the way of hope. Like i said, we just can wait for an solution from Rare, Epic and/or Microsoft 'cause i still have the opinion that there's a problem with the certificate, executable SoTgame.exe or something else in this direction with the delivery of the files through MS Store or XBOX App.
So i can only recommend: Don't try to reinstall Windows. Don't try to uninstall and reinstall Sea of Thieves (it could lead into the same error). If you have installed Sea of Thieves then just update it. Yeah you have to redownload nearly the whole game through the update but it should work until you get the 20-30 minutes crash :D (sorry.. that have to be :D )
The only thing i didn't try which is worth to try: Someone with knowledge and a working SoT installation from MS Store / XBOX App COULD set the permission of the Xbox SoT Game folder, zip it up and send it over to an other User which is replacing the files and try to launch it. Normally the installation should be the same. If this DOESN'T work... then the Game Files shouldn't be corrupt and the problem is somewhere else. That's still the only idea i haven't tested yet.
@darkman1984 No way in hell I'm gonna format my PC. I saw you guys doing it. It sadly didn't work. So I won't bother until they fix it. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a working game that is from MS store/ XBOX App. But hopefully you'll find someone to test your theory. Good luck with it!
@manonico1903 Thats not as easy as you think. You cannot replace the Main Game File with the one from steam because the framework is an other. There's a bit more to do ;)
@fabifm2000 the forum is checked everyday :) but the devs get a better picture of the amount of crashes and what platform it’s happening on if everyone with said problem sends in a ticket to Support
Fair winds
