EAC - Unknown File Version (SoTGame.exe)

  • I just had to buy the Steam version of the game (was on Xbogs) and that's fixed it now obviously.

    Honestly, as much as I hate shelling out another 40 dollars to the company, the time with friends is more important. I'm sorry for the ones who can't do this and still think Rare should be proactively handing out keys for other platforms. You and I all purchased this program, but can't use it at no fault of our own. In that case, the company should restore service promptly or find alternative methods to return the game to the customer. I don't see Rare doing either.

  • @plump-pirat yea, i also lost any hope. i will wait for next sale and buy game again. they just don't care and even funnier is that they raise price in poland (where i live) when game is broken thats funny couse poland have small earnings comparing to other europian countries but bigger price than swiss

  • Can confirm, I reinstalled game from scratch on C drive and it made no difference whatsoever, cool if it worked for some people but it's obviously not a universal fix.

  • Hey, my gf has the same problem and here's everything we tried :

    1. Check the game files on Xbox app

    2. copy the EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe as a path, paste it in the Win+R menu and installing the certification (like this : "C:\XboxGames\Sea of Thieves\Content\Installers\EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe" install 0367a3a8ea344f08851d76facf6f66d3)

    3. Adding a zero at the end of the certification

    4. Copy and paste the pak file that EAC didn't recognize from my pc to hers (it worked for this file but it didn't recognize another file so I am affraid that we would have to replace manualy all the pak files)

    5. Update the drivers.

    Her Windows is up to date and she has a good pc (3060ti and IDK for the CPU). Nothing worked for us but maybe it can for one of you. I've seen that people had problem with the game running on windows 11 on this microsoft forum https://answers.microsoft.com/fr-fr/xbox/forum/all/problème-dinstallation-sea-of-thieves/434b078c-aeed-49d9-804c-274fe148c3f1 but I didn't find the files they talked about but if it works for someone, that's great. Now I would like Rare to patch the problem in the next update but I don't have much hope.

  • Had this issue on the Insider server, I simply did a Integrity File Check on Steam and it solved it (nothing has happened for the past 1hr)

  • This problem is with XBOX AND WINDOWS 11

    I WILL NOT PURCHASE THE GAME AGAIN!!! what assures me this same issue won't happen again and I got to keep buying the main game every season release.

  • Hello pirates! I just had this bug yesterday and I've come here to say: You don't have to buy the game again, or reinstall it on a different disk. After an hour of looking for solutions, I found this easy and fast fix:

    1. Go to your program files, find the Easy Anti-Cheat folder and delete it
    2. Go to SoT game files, and delete EAC there too
    3. Open steam, go to SoT page, properties, installed files, and from there run a file integrity check

    After 5 minutes or so it should be finished, and this worked like a charm for me. Cheers

    Never said they were.

    .....they pass the issue to folks who actually work on the game's code.
    Support staff can't just fix the game. They are responsible for collecting and collating information and passing it to the relevant people who CAN dig into it to find and implement a fix.

    I know, I get it. I've been a professional software developer for decades. I've worked on systems bigger than SoT and in organizations larger than Rare. I understand the difference between support and dev, and I understand the process.

    The convention in software development, when an issue gets evaluated by first level support and then passed on to a dev for investigation, is to flag it some variation of "assigned" or "delegated". Flagging something as "solved" is reserved for when the dev has actually fixed the issue (and sometimes not even until support has verified the fix).

    Regardless of what you say, flagging an issue as "solved" when in fact it's only been reviewed by support and assigned or delegated; is not only contrary to industry standard, but entirely duplicitous.

    Differences between support and dev duties and responsibilities are entirely beside the point.

    Go to ur file and search Settings.json or config.json: found this line
    : "0367a3a8ea344f08851d76facf6f66d3",
    modify and add 0 at the end
    : "0367a3a8ea344f08851d76facf6f66d30",

    for me it works, try and give me u'r feed back

  • @zamqo I did that, got into the main menu but if i press sail then I get “connection to the server has been lost. please check your connectiom and try again (hazelnutbeard)” error.

  • Had the same problem. Nothing worked so i tried to fix it for myself. Did the following and now i can play again.

    Go to the following folder on your pc: XboxGames\Sea of Thieves\Content For my its on me E Drive. In that folder you can see the SeaOfThieves.exe. What i did is change the name to SOTGame.exe and when i open this executable it works and i can play. You can only open it from this folder. Your shortcut from your desktop/windows store/xbox app won't work and says that there a corrupt files.

    Hope it works for others as well.

    Edit, nevermind. I get an hazelnutbeard error when connecting to a server...

    Шаг первый: Установить/перенести файлы игры с одного диска на другой. (В моём случае на виртуальный)
    Шаг второй: Пробуем запуститься со второго диска. (У меня получилось)
    Шаг третий: Создаём на основном диске папку по следующему расположению: "C:..." Название любое, перезагружаем компьютер.
    Шаг четвертый: Заходим в настройки Xbox находим раздел "Install location" или что-то типа того. И выбираем папку которую создали ранее.
    Шаг пятый: Возвращаем файлы со второго диска в папку "C:...". Должно получиться что-то типа: "C:...\Sea Of Thieves".
    Шаг шестой: Удаляем в папке "C:...\Sea Of Thieves\content..." всё кроме Athena и Engine.
    Шаг седьмой: В Xbox нажимаем на кнопку проверить и исправить, у вас скачаются +/- 700МБ.

    ГОТОВО, запускайте и наслаждайтесь игрой :)

  • I solved the problem for myself.

    Step one: Install/transfer game files from one disk to another. (In my case on a virtual disk)
    Step two: Try to run from the second disk. (I got it)
    Step three: Create a folder on the main disk at the following location: "C:..." Any name, restart the computer.
    Step four: Go to the Xbox settings find the section "Install location" or something like that. And select the folder we created earlier.
    Step five: Return the files from the second disk to the folder "C:...". It should be something like: "C:...\Sea Of Thieves".
    Step six: Delete in the folder "C:...\Sea Of Thieves\content..." everything except Athena and Engine.
    Step seven: In Xbox click on the button check and fix, you will download +/- 700MB.

    DONE, launch and enjoy the game :)

  • @spectralsolider Didn't work, Also deleting everything other than Athena and Engine only reacquires 7mb of files not 700.

    I stopped my subscriptions, and I will most definitely stop purchasing from the emporium.

    This game is FLAWED thanks to EASY ANTI CHEAT, and they DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!! how many patches last few months? 2 or 3, and none addressing this issue.

    I guess Rare is showing its true colors.

    go play with your PS5 friends now Rare, you are definitely destroying what you have built since 2018.

  • @spectralsolider Doesn't work. I don't think changing the file path is going to make a difference, it's clearly some sort of verification issue with the files they've provided us, this is evident by people who have edited the anti-cheat certificate and managed to open the game (if only for a few minutes before they get booted back out)

    I actually have the exact same issue and I play on Steam. So steam obviously doesn't work. Also, the bug appeared for the first time today. 5 Days ago everything was fine. So it seems to be an ongoing issue.
