  • Still had the error and my bf's and my account said they were Redbeard banned for like no reason. The email came back and told me I'm actually not banned, but his is for hacking and cheating. Like what is actually going on. He loves this game and wanted me to play with him and this is honestly ridiculous.

  • Now things are getting really embarrassing. The main thing is to take care of Season 12 and the PS5 players. The long-time players look stupid and can't even start the game

    Captain RARE : ARRRR !!!! Solve this problem, find how to make them unable to do this ! bypassing EAC is out of our new law, they are true pirates ! Put them a HazzelnutBeard in the face. Every 20seconds disconnexion it will disgust them to play. By the way I don't want a mutinery versus EAC. Threat these mutineers with the banning rules ! Give these kids a lesson based on morale and our rules so they won't forget that they are in our theaves world and that we can ban them easy if we consider their actions beeing versus our rules !

    Captain RARE : we are preparing the PS5 compatibility. Teams are all taken on it. And skins team won't be a help for this topic. So these now 15% players will have to wait, while we make other sailors so happy. Remember they had free skeletons ships to sink during 2 weeks, they will have greed good and not care about stuck sailors. Plus, just know that it makes some money : the oldest of these sailors finally buy the game on Steam, even sometimes without their 50% discount.

  • @ch3ck3r75 then do this uninstall the game, reset xbox app and gaming services after that, reset your PC, check for any updated if you have any, install the game on your C drive, hope this will help because that's what i did and it worked, game still works fine after the new update.

  • we need to start something that SoT team care about. we need to start review bombing. at least there will be a greater chance that they will finally address the problem.

  • New player here, tried everything but keep crashing after a few minutes of gameplay, sometimes even at laucnhing the game. The error I'm having is PVC LZ4_CC, other times the EAC unknown file version. I'm done with this after 2 weeks, hope they fix it soon. Already put a review on xbox app PC.

    I can almost guarantee the final response you would have gotten from Support when it was marked "solved" was actually along the lines of "we will be marking this support ticket as solved but please rest assured that we take all reports from our players very seriously and this report remains active in our internal systems".

    As I said earlier, maybe Rare should consider changing the wording from "solved" to something less final, as that seems to create the impression that an issue is no longer being looked at.

    Should I reset my PC because Rare can't manage to release a patch? I've already done everything else, but I don't see the need to reinstall my PC

  • I was keeping a keen eye on the thread but the issue is solved for me, uninstalled the game and installed it to my main drive.. funny how Rare is still like "Nah let's pretend we don't know what's happening lol"

    The issue seems to be very complex. A month isn't all that long in reality.

    We had an issue with software we use in work by a very well-known company that prevented us from doing our jobs, essentially. It took 4 months of some very tech savvy folk analysing our PCs to figure out what the issue was and to fix it.

    Hopefully, this doesn't take that long.

  • @realstyli You are focusing on the wrong issue here. Sure, the wording could be better and they may be filing my report away to be dealt with later.

    That is not what matters.

    What matters is that there are dozens and dozens of people in here that have paid for a game and are still unable to play after over a month.

    Worry less about grammar and more about the actual issue.

  • If rare take care about players they will be put a statement and do something to forgive this like give steam keys for microsoft players.

  • @realstyli yeah but still they havent said anything or given any alternative like keys that only last until the error is fixed or at least some official statement that says ´we know this is happening and we are working on it´ it really looks like they dont even care that we cant play the game, i havent been able to play the game for 2 months now. And the only solution on the table right now is to give them 20$ more for the steam version

  • @pepenites Few moths ago I got some errors on the xbox versions and bought the steam version hoping it would be fixed there. Right now I cant play the steam version because of the EAC error, tried reinstalling the game, resetting my whole pc and many other things. First I mostly got "missing or corrupt files"-errors after playing for some time (sometimes even around 1 hour) but now after resetting my pc, I instantly get kicked for the EAC error...

  • As you saw guys, they are just stuck on imposing EAC like if this was more important than permit access to the game to everybody.
    I prefer a company that assumes to go back on previous update to avoid the met problems of a new one, than a company pursuing the well-stuck idea of insisting in this failure until they are able to solve it.
    If I remember well, they justified this deep update to "download less data" for next updates + putting EAC . But we saw it continues on updates 10 to 50Go...

    EAC could have wait these 2 months to solve the updates, whereas the players.
    Cheaters are far less a problem than this impossibility to play.

  • I downloaded the game again, wiped Xbox programs, and reset my PC.

    Now, I get a totally new error message (0xc0000005) and the game crashes almost instantly upon startup.

    Am I surprised by this? Not one bit.

    EDIT: Fixed this issue by resetting PC again and redownloading for the 5th or 6th time.

    Back to having the Easy Anti Cheat Unknown File Version error message. Do I have to spam their twitter/facebook/reddit every single day or just cough up another 40 bucks to buy the game again?

    That seems... rather like counterproductive double-speak.

    It would be a LOT more helpful if you only flagged issues as "solved" when they are actually, y'know SOLVED.

    They are never going to care about existing players. All their income comes from game sales.

    They've already gotten their $$$ from existing players so they have ZERO incentive to fix anything for you, when the thing that needs fixing is what allowed all the new income from PS5 players...

    I don't imagine they will ever fix this issue, and will simply chock it up to "acceptable losses" for the increased revenue.

  • @pepenites obviously a week or two of downtime doesn't require them to hand out keys... but at this point its been a couple months. I guess they already have our cash and it doesn't matter much to them.

  • Don't worry guys, Rare just emailed me and said they are looking into the issue and to check their social media for more information.

    Saved at last!

    So guys, here is the fix:

    Wait for an unspecified amount of time, check Rare's Twitter and Facebook, and sit tight. I know it's been 2 months since the issue was announced, but have no fear! They are looking into it!

  • @gravesilence272 it seems like a bad business move to me.

    If the affected player base is such a small %, surely getting them Steam keys would not hurt revenue in any meaningful way. After two months, I have to agree with you. I don't think they care too much. It's not like they have made any progress in that time. Other than "redownload and reset Xbox programs" we have not gotten any new advice or fixes. Two months is a long time.

  • SOLVED: If anyone here is playing from steam, (I'm unsure if you can play from Epic Games or some third party launcher) I opened my game and forced closed it. I then verified the game files through the steam launcher and launched the game. The game then told me that I had incorrectly shut it down and prompted me to allow the game to verify the integrity of the files (I did). It takes a short while for both so please be patient. Afterwards the game started up as normal and I haven't had a problem since. I'm unsure if this fix will work for anyone else, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try.

  • @gravesilence272 Again, Support staff are not developers.....they pass the issue to folks who actually work on the game's code.

    Support staff can't just fix the game. They are responsible for collecting and collating information and passing it to the relevant people who CAN dig into it to find and implement a fix.

  • Anyone thinking that Rare doesn't care if people can't play the game as intended is severely underestimating how much Game Devs in general care about the work they spend (often) years of their lives to create.

    I can appreciate that it is frustrating and annoying not being able to play a game but I can 100% guarantee that the Devs feel the same but even more so! It is their work, not a pastime/hobby.
