Toxic players getting innocent players automatically banned for YouTube views

@look-behind-you i guess what i meant was i wouldnt do it myself but the fact that rare has allowed it to go on for so long AND the fact that pirates are all about breaking rules/laws its kinda fitting of what is a pirate. basically saying if people want to keep attacking pve players with the argument "its a pirate game" then i would argue that ok then cheating is fair too because "its a pirate game"

PvE players are only found in Safer Seas and can't be attacked by other crews; people playing High Seas are PvEvP players ...

Alowing cheating in a pirate game is strange reasoning or trolling - possibly both. Cheating is against the ToS &c, if one does, they shoudl accept the consequences.

  • I'm also going to assume that most of the players don't really follow social media or watch exploit channels.
They might not even be aware of this.
Banning players who just sold loot someone else exploited is of bad taste imo.
These cases should not use automated ban system. Just flag the accounts and look them on case to case basis.

I find it odd that there are somehow automated bans for this, but not for people who fly around and ignore every physics law game applied to them.

  • @papatankers2041 Yet you assume OP is 100% telling the truth and 100% factual... based on a link to a random YouTube clip/video that is no longer visible? 😬

No. I assume that automated bans is legit tho.
You can just correst us if we are wrong here tho.

  • @papatankers2041 I have no idea, I have no input or effect on the Game or it's running...I am just a volunteer Mod.

Lack of confirmation/denial does not equal correct though, believing something 'because YouTube tho' is a bit of a stretch. Especially considering the accounts involved.

My assumption isn't only based on OP tho. I have heard the same thing from another source.
That beeing that if you sell too much fish then you will automatically get a yellowbeard.

Im also going to assume that as a mod here you can get actual confirmation if this is true or not and clear up the confusion.

  • @papatankers2041 I can ask...no promises on actual answers though!

  • Apparently if you kill 3 or more Ancient Skeletons in a session you get a temporary ban as well

My guess would be that this is less about 3 or more ancient skellies and more about trying to catch bot farmers and exploiters. (assuming that it had anything to do with ancient skellies as claimed)

It's one of those things that ends up spreading more confusing fear than awareness.

I wouldn't worry about it if people are just playing the game as intended and happen to find a lucky day, if they aren't doing anything shady it'll work out in the end.

People that play a lot and spend a lot of time on land will luck out sometimes, this is one of the reasons why I always encourage people to avoid pve exploiting. If a person has an account where their activity is on the up and up they can rely on the integrity within their activity. Cheat the system and others and it's a more difficult situation to be in when someone has to reach out to support or when someone has an unusually lucky day.

No need to play in fear, just keep it fair, stay outta the exploit game, the account data tells the tale, just play fair and within ToS and it'll be alright.

  • Youtubers that do dumb stuff to other players or abuse them for clicks are the ones that should be banned.

Content creation in general is one of the most entitled spaces out there. When specifically talking trouble makers it's just a lot of hiding behind a variety of different ToS, platform jurisdiction hopping, while causing harm to a specific community/getting away with a lot of nonsense.

If someone only causes issues in SoT then it's higher risk as that's all the trouble under one ToS with one company's interest.

If people cause issues for SoT while hiding behind other ToS on other platforms then it's lower risk. Streamers on twitch do it a lot, youtubers, twitter enthusiasts, etc.

Diversifying troublemaking for the same damage and less risk. Same thing for all the drama and smack talk that goes on.

  • @wolfmanbush Yeah it gets to the point where it's not even entertaining or at least not for me since they are gaining views at the cost of other players hardship.

A couple of famous youtubers which i will not name are always abusing players and making fun of them.
I saw them get a dose of their own medicine and they were crying like 5 year olds yet they don't seem to learn their lesson but this just makes their channels be loved by some and hated by others.
