Hello! Although my last post — which was two years ago — covers the same topic I’m bringing back to light today, I wanted to see whether or not true Character Creation could be an added feature to Sea of Thieves in 2024!
Sea of Thieves has a myriad of randomly-generated features that make up a player’s character, such as: gender, body shape, skin tone, age, head shape, eyebrow type, eye shape, eye color, nose shape, lip shape, teeth, makeup (eyeshadow and / or lipstick), freckles, scars, and anything else that was not listed (hairstyle and hair color excluded, as these are changeable later on in-game).
The “Infinite Pirate Generator”, or “IPG” for short, is the system we use to generate characters. This system was designed and implemented to randomly create pirate avatars that wouldn’t go against the game’s artistic design, while also preventing players from creating “abominations” with the usage of sliders had they existed.
In summary, the IPG generates distinctive-looking pirates (due to the many randomized features listed above), preventing others from looking the same, further adding to the uniqueness of a player’s character; however, just as I wrote two years ago, this system is not for everyone and I do not believe that sentiment falls in the minority.
I can confidently say I (still) don’t feel connected to my pirate in any way, still mindlessly generating avatars by the thousands for several hours every now and then, still spending more money on Pirate Potions (item that allows us to change our pirate while preventing progression loss), still having hope that I will one day find a pirate I can “click” with.
In conclusion, I would love to see an alternative system for players, especially like me, that would allow them to manually create their characters using ALL of the available features that have been generated via the IPG.

Head shape: (choose one of the many shown IPG)
Eye size: (choose one of the many shown in IPG)
Eye color: (choose one of the many shown in IPG)
Scars: (choose none or one of the many shown in IPG)
Freckles: (enable or disable)
Teeth: (intact or choose one of the many shown in IPG)
Age: (young or old)
